    Daniel Made Clear - Edwin Humphrey

    Jr.

    DANIEL 1

    Where you are today is due to the turn in the road you took yesterday. The book of Daniel becomes a tale of two cities, Jerusalem and Babylon, both which are in mentioned in Genesis and Revelation.

    Geneses 14: 18;

    ¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem (later became Jerusalem) brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

    11: 9;

    Therefore is the name of it called Babel (later became Babylon); because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

    And finally in Revelation

    Revelation 3: 12;

    ¹² Him that over cometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

    14: 8;

    And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

    16: 19;

    ¹⁹ And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

    17: 5;

    And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

    21: 2;

    ² And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

    21: 10;

    ¹⁰ And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

    1. The great controversy between Christ and Satan, is the conflict over the worship theme.

    2. The first battle in this world over the issue of worship transpired at the gates of Eden, which one brother slew the other over worship styles.

    And why did he murder him?

    Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous.

    1 John 3: 12;

    ¹² Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

    3. More interesting to us probably, is the fact that the last battle of earth also, to be over the manner of worship.

    History begins and ends with religious conflict (see Gen 4 and Rev 16: 13, 14).

    4. The beginning of the Babylonian exile marks the end of one era and the beginning of another.

    5. Thus, The good news that troubles (tribulation) issues in blessings for those obedient to God is sounded forth.

    for example:

    Chapter One of Daniel

    The remnant tested over fidelity to the law of God. Those who are fateful are promoted to the palace of the king.

    6. The prophet had given them ample warning. The reason was spelled out in 2 Chronicles 36: 15-17;

    ¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

    ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

    ¹⁷ Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.

    7. What’s in a name change?

    8. Does diet matter? And, does God notice?

    9. Twelve or fourteen years later Ezekiel in captivity in Mesopotamia he [Ezekiel] compares the wisdom of Daniel to that of Lucifer.

    Ezekiel 28:3;

    ³ Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

    10. Psalm 119: 97-104;

    ⁹⁴ I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.

    ⁹⁵ The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

    ⁹⁶ I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

    ⁹⁷ O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

    ⁹⁸ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

    ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

    ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

    ¹⁰¹ I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

    ¹⁰² I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.

    ¹⁰³ How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

    ¹⁰⁴ Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

    Revels the secret of Daniel’s wisdom.

    11. Three-Year Postgraduate Course Daniel 1: 18-20

    ¹⁸ Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

    ¹⁹ And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

    ²⁰ And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

    What does all this mean?

    The king was schedule to have a dream on the records of Heaven, and someone had to be there to speak for God. One, who would give the right interpretation a worshiper of the true and living God.

    That is a complete study in its self, of how God uses people and situations, total strangers, least likely, but willing to do His bidding. The dilemma is how do you get, two extreme opposites from different countries to become dependant and need each other for survival.

    My friend Stanley Dorsey would stick one leg out leaning to the side saying all the while; Just Jesus, Just Jesus. Look at what is taking place behind the seen, Jesus is the only one, who can orchestrate a situation where both can be saved in His kingdom.

    12. Remained on the job. Daniel 1: 21

    ²¹ And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.

    He remained the entire 70 of Babylonian captivity; he would thus be close to 90 years of age.

    His last great achievement at court was to assist in the negotiate Judea’s release.

    Daniel 2

    The struggle in Daniel’s day was between Christ and human agents on one side, and Satan and his human mediums on the other.

    1. Daniel 2:1;

    ¹ And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

    The problem of a dream, destroys sleep

    2 Daniel 2: 2-4;

    ² Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

    ³ And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

    Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

    The summons of wise men, Daniel and his friends were not called, yet they were to received the same punishment.
