About this ebook

Dr. Donnalakshmi Selvaraj has taken a journey with her daughter, Ms. Indira Selvaraj, to write a book with humor they feel will be of assistance to individuals in the post-2008 Great Recession workplace who may be experiencing hostile workplace situations. We hope this book will help those employees cope and hope, forgive, and move forward a little better.

Dr. Selvaraj is also the author of Protocol Of The Palace, which is her doctoral thesis, "praying to loving performing" for the faith-based community. Ms. Indira Selvaraj is also the editor of this book and a major collaborator and contributor. Dr. Selvaraj says of her daughter Indira that she is the wind beneath her wings.

Dr. Selvaraj has also coauthored another book, titled HIV Is Heaven In View. This book was written with a church sister, who received HIV from her Pastor/husband on the down low, and was the church sisters heart to bring awareness to the HIV issue to the faith-based community.

    Dedication

This book is lovingly dedicated to ALL employees who, like myself, have been put in undesired workplace situations and may be struggling to cope with the supervisor’s or manager’s hostile behavior. I just want you to know that you are NOT the only one. Since the 2008 Great Recession, the behavior in the workplace has changed, albeit the laws and/or your respective organization’s policies and procedures are still the same. I pray for more HOPE, LOVE, and PEACE in your mind and heart as you continue to pursue your Peace of Heaven in your respective work situation.

This book is ALSO dedicated to the MANY supervisors and managers who are excellent and continue to work in excellence. You are truly appreciated, and YOU know who YOU are and are NOT offended by this book.

    Continued blessings,

    Friend/Sis/Dr. Donnalakshmi Donna Selvaraj

Post Script: We are reintroducing this book in 2021, due to the 2020 world wide pandemic where millions of Americans and other people around the world have lost their job. We know that once you finally get to your new job you will be simply happy to have a job; however, if this job should go to hell (smile), we hope you will use this book as your companion piece to cope/hope, forgive and continue moving forward until you get to your better situation—hallelujah!

    Introduction

    The Beginning and My Background

You may be wondering how I arrived at the title How To Work In Hell Successfully And Not Get Burned By The Flames. The first part of the title, How To Work In Hell, comes from what I have heard or read about since the advent of the post-2008 Great Recession (and now the post 2019/2020/2021 Covid pandemic outbreak) workplace, since jobs are so difficult to keep and/or hard to find in the 2016 (and now the 2021) workplace environment. I have a background in Human Resources. I’ve always seemed to tune in to these types of issues in the news, online, at church, or in the workplace.

I have three degrees with an emphasis in Human Resources, most particularly in Organizational Development and Organizational Behavior. I have always been interested in how people best work together for the GOOD of one another. This brought me to the point of writing my doctorate thesis on praying to achieve loving performing. The book is titled Protocol Of The Palace and is another book I wrote to bring Human Resources to the faith-based community to inspire efficient, effective, and loving performance.

I have observed in my forty-plus years of work experience, educational studies, and church service that in ALL three of these environments, there is always someone going through something. By the way, that includes me, too. !LOL!

I have heard complaints about various supervisors and/or managers with inappropriate and/or hostile behavioral issues towards employees that go unresolved. I have even participated in a few situations to try to help management correct their behavioral issues, which resulted in no change and retaliatory efforts from the supervisor and/or manager.

For the past several years, I have continuously heard things like Those people [or person] are being put through hell at their job. I have also said, Then why don’t they get another job? Of course the response is Jobs are still hard to find.

I have also heard people talk about their work environment as a hellhole, whereby they talk about working for supervisors or managers who not only retaliate against them but also make decisions from the dark parts of their soul (i.e., mind, will, and emotions). This is where I was able to get part of the title, How To Work In Hell. (LOL ing)

Now, I did not want to leave people in a state of despair, so I added Successfully And Not Get Burned By The Flames
