If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now…Early Years

I remember being that pimple-faced boy, always breaking out in acne. Not a nice scene, and to add to that, I was also a nerd—shy, but I also was picked on by almost everyone in school from junior high all the way through high school. I never ever had a date for anything—seemed no girls were interested in me, but I now know why. So a lot of things were working against me in my early years of school all the way through. I was socially inept, I did not know how to act, I dressed dorky, I was pimple-faced, and smelled funny probably.

A clue: you will learn to improve yourself; even the smallest steps like dressing up well, combing hair is not a onetime thing, learn to keep your hair neat every day—things will click for you. Brushing teeth, speaking well—anyone would love this. Do this; you will see differences. They may be small. but you're building your character.

But as they say, even a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut. There was one girl in my high school days that I think actually liked me, but I was so socially awkward, I just would not know what to do if she kissed me. For real. I would not know—I probably would have run and hid. Back to that girl, I would play too much with her. I did not see the signs of her interest in me. I was too busy being immature. I made
