Chapter 1

Shortly after graduation, I turned eighteen. It was summer and I know I probably should have spent it with my friends, the guys I grew up with, but I just couldn't. I couldn't be somewhere where I couldn't be myself. I was tired of hiding who I was so I told my parents I was going to stay with my cousin, Amber.

Amber was my best bud, growing up. Her mom and my mom are sisters and we were born only a week apart. She was first and never let me forget that, acting like an older sister even though we were really the same age. Until about twelve or so, she was a tomboy. Her dad was a jock and being the ultimate daddy's girl, she wanted to make him proud and dove head-first into sports and she was really good at it, too. Much better than me, that's for sure. My dad rarely let me forget that, either.

At thirteen, though, puberty hit and... well, Amber grew into a very beautiful young woman. She still played sports with every bit of gusto as before but off the field, she became the popular girl. Guys were all over her. I would get teased about it, too. Even my friends would ask me if I had the chance, would I do her. I always laughed it off or told them to stop being so disgusting. She's my cousin, dude, I would say.

The truth was, I couldn't stop looking at her, either. I couldn't stop fantasizing about her and her life. I didn't want her or anything – nothing like that. I just wanted to be her.
