To the rainforests of the world, hoping people will better understand that their value goes far beyond the beauty and may help save many lives.
Chapter 1
This happened many years ago in a rain forest untouched by people. A young girl was on her first trip like this away from home with her father. These rain forests are places where people normally would go to find natural cures for sicknesses or magical herbs to cure illnesses not found through science. But in the case of her father, he and his partners, who owned one of the largest lumber companies in the world, they did not care about all of this. They were just here to find new and exotic woods to sell around the world for profit. His daughter, Alice, had no idea about her father's business, nor did she really care, as she was there to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Shortly after they had reached the edge of the world's largest rain forest where her father was having his men set up their camp, Alice decided that she wanted to take a walk to see if she could find any different or exotic flowers or plants. After asking Father's permission if she could go explore, she was off. She walked through the woods, watching every step she made, not to harm any of the plants. But as she got further into the woods where it was a lot quieter, she started to hear some strange soft sounds around her. This was her first trip away from home and in such a strange place, and she at first didn't take notice of these soft sounds until she was far enough away from the noise of the camp and all the men there. But the further she walked, the more she could swear she heard little tiny voices saying what sounded like, Thank you
and You are so kind!
She just set this aside in her head as her imagination was going into overdrive! She had been accused of this time and time again by others in the past, and now she was starting to believe it herself!
She carried with her a camera along with her lunch of a sandwich and some fruit. She always planted the seed from the fruit after she was done eating, thinking that someday there would be a nice tree growing there to feed others. Maybe even herself, if she was to return someday. She looked for a place to sit so she could eat her lunch, thinking it was her stomach making these noises she heard. Ahead she saw what looked like a soft grassy clearing. As she approached the clearing, she politely asked, Mind if I sit down?
Just as any proper lady would do when coming into someone's home. She considered this not to be her home, so she was just trying to be polite.
Imagine her surprise to hear what she thought was little voices saying okay
back to her. Now she knew she was tired and hungry, so she just passed this off too as her imagination and sat to eat her lunch. After she finished with her sandwich and ate her fruit, she looked for just the right spot to plant the seed. It had to have just enough sun, but most of all, nice soil for it to grow big and strong. After planting the seed and giving the ground a gentle pat with her hand wishing it a happy life, she laid her head down to rest.
She started to have these strange but wonderful dreams. Such wonderment she had never dreamed of before! Then like a shock, she jumped up to the sound of a loud crash followed by screams and crying! Was this still part of her dream? She looked around to see it had since gotten quite dark outside, and she was now unsure of where she was and how to get back to the camp. She started to get a bit scared, saying, Now what do I do?
out loud to herself. I do not want to just walk around and step on these poor plants in the dark trying to find my way back to the camp!
Then she saw a bunch of little lights off to one side showing her a path. She though she heard those little voices again saying, Follow the light!
She knew this was all in her head, but it did show her a path, and the flowers would not be crushed if she walked slowly within the lighted way. Soon she was back at the camp and ran to her father, who had already gotten his men together to go
