Bloodletting of The Chosen Few - Teresa Bottoni
Book of Genesis
Chapter 1
Story of Creation
In the beginning, God created the heavens and an earth with mighty waters and sweeping winds. Then God made light, and with that light, he created the spirit world of angels and spirits. He separated the light and darkness, making day and night. He then made a dome in the sky to divide the waters between heaven and the earth. He put flowing streams and vegetation on the dryland. He placed fish in the waters, birds in the sky, and animals on land. God was happy with his creation, and wanting to share it, he fashioned a man and a woman from clay to his divine image. He called the man Adam and put him on the earth to dwell in his garden of paradise. Adam was happy, for he could eat off any tree in the garden without toil.
Chapter 2
Second Story of Creation
God infused his spirit into Adam with his breath by blowing into his nostrils. He also gave him free will, the same as he gave to his angels. God did not want Adam to forget his maker, so he conversed with him in the garden and tested his loyalty with only one request, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From that tree, you shall not eat. For the moment you do, you are surely doomed to die.
When Adam slept, God took one of his ribs and created a woman so he could have a companion from his own flesh and blood. She was called Eve. He gave them dominion over the earth. They had no need of clothes for they were naked and not ashamed.
Chapter 3
The Fall of Man
God’s favorite angel he called Lucifer because he was made of light. Lucifer became insanely jealous of Adam and refused to acknowledge his dominion over the earth. He recruited other angels to rebel against God. Another mighty angel named Michael cast out Lucifer, along with his rebellious angels, and they fell from heaven. Meanwhile, in the garden, Adam and Eve were happy because they had everything they needed. Lucifer, out to prove man inferior, entered a beautiful serpent and possessed him. The serpent then persuaded Eve to eat off the forbidden tree by speaking these words, "You certainly will not die if you eat off that tree, but you will be enlightened and become godlike, knowing all things." Eve was swayed by his beauty and ate off the tree. The fruit tasted good, so she gave some to Adam, and he ate. All of a sudden, their eyes were opened, and they realized they were naked. They grabbed fig leaves to make loincloth and hid. When God asked them why they were hiding, they answered, We are naked!
God questioned them, Then you ate off the forbidden tree?
Adam defended himself, The woman made me do it!
The woman replied, The serpent tricked me into it!
Then the Lord said to the serpent, On your belly, you shall crawl, and dirt you shall eat all the days of your life.
To the woman, he said, I will intensify the pangs of your childbearing, and your husband shall be your master
To the man, he said, Cursed will be the ground you walk on, in toil shall you eat all the days of your life until you return to the ground.
God gave them leather garments to clothe themselves. He decided that since man had come to know the power of evil, he was dangerous and may corrupt the rest of the world, therefore his days would be numbered. He banned Adam and Eve from the garden so they could not eat from another tree called the tree of life and live forever. He placed his cherubim angels with fiery swords at the entrance to the garden to keep them out. Adam and Eve left and settled east of Eden, lamenting for what they did.
Chapter 4
Cain and Abel
Adam and Eve bore two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain tilled the soil, while Abel tended the flocks. The Lord looked more favorably on Abel for his quality of work, so Cain was jealous and resentful of him. God spoke to Cain, "Why are you so unhappy? If you do well, you can hold your head up. If not, sin is a demon lurking at your door, and his urge is toward you, yet you can master him."
Cain did not heed the Lord and killed his brother, leaving him in the field. God asked Cain where his brother was, and he replied, I don’t know! Am I my brother’s keeper?
The Lord denounced his action, "Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the soil, therefore when you till the soil, it shall no longer give you produce. You will become a restless wanderer on the earth."
Abel pleaded, "This punishment is too harsh, for anyone may kill me at sight!"
The Lord promised him, "Not so, for if anyone kills you, I will avenge you sevenfold." God put a mark on Cain’s forehead, and he left the Lord’s presence and settled in the land of Nod. Then Adam and Eve had another son they named Seth.
Chapter 5
Generations of Adam to Noah
Adam and Eve’s son Seth gave birth to Enosh. Enosh gave birth to Kenan who gave birth to Mahalalel. Mahalalel gave birth to Jared who gave birth to Enoch. Enoch gave birth to Methuselah, and then Enoch walked with God, for God took him. Methuselah gave birth to Lamech who gave birth to Noah. Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Shem’s ancestors went on to become the Hebrews, Japheth ancestors became the Gentiles, and Ham’s ancestors were the rest who mostly settled in Canaan and Egypt.
Chapter 6
Origin of the Nephilim
The sons of heaven, those children of the gods from the celestial beings of mythology, saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took as many of them as they chose to wed. After that, the Lord decided, My spirit shall no longer remain forever in the flesh of man. I will number his days to comprise 120 years.
Warning of the flood
The Lord grieved when he saw how wicked men had become on earth and regretted having made them. Noah, however, found favor with the Lord. God confided with him, I have decided to put an end to all mortals on earth and destroy them and all life. But since you are a good man, I will keep you and your descendants alive.
Preparation for the flood
God instructed Noah, Build an ark, for I am about to flood the earth. I will save you, your wife, your sons, and their wives. You must bring two of every animal on board with you. I will establish a new covenant with you. It will rain for forty days and forty nights. Everything else on earth with the breath of life shall perish.
So Noah did as he was told. When the rain stopped, Noah and his family were the only people left on earth.
Chapter 8
Covenant with Noah
After 150 days, when the waters began to recede, the ark came to rest on Mount Ararat. Noah was finally able to step on land, and the first thing he did was to build an altar to the Lord. Then he planted a vineyard. The Lord was pleased and said, Never again will I doom the earth because of man, even though his desires have been evil from the start. I will never again strike down every living being.
God commanded Noah and his family to multiply and fill the earth. He set his bow in the sky to form a rainbow and stated that this was the sign of his covenant with Noah. Then he made a pronouncement, Dread fear of you shall come upon all animals, for into your power, they are delivered. Do what you will with them, but I will demand an accounting. I will also demand an accounting for human life as well. Anyone who sheds the blood of man, by man, his blood will be shed.
Chapter 9
Noah and His Sons
Noah was a man of the soil, so he planted a vineyard. After the harvest, he drank too much wine and fell asleep naked inside his tent. His son Ham saw him and thought it funny, so he retrieved his two brothers so they could have a laugh also. When Shem and Japheth saw their father, they walked backward with a robe over their shoulders and covered his nakedness. In the morning, when Noah found out, he became distraught and angry, making this statement to Ham, "You did wrong. And because of your action, your son, Canaan, shall be cursed, and his generations shall be the lowest of slaves." He then gave a blessing to Shem and Japheth, for they had done the right thing in the sight of the Lord.
Chapter 10
Table of Nations
One of Ham’s descendants became King Nimro d, a mighty hunter who ruled the first kingdom or empire on earth. His three chief cities were Babylon, Erech, and Akkad, all in the land of Sumer of the Fertile Crescent. This kingdom included the great city of Nineveh in Assyria. Noah’s descendants had spread far and wide. Japheth’s people become Greeks, Medes, Scythians, as well as those of Cyprus and Rhodes. Shem’s descendants became the people of Eber, Elam, and also the great city of Damascus in Aram. From these three sons of Noah, the whole world became populated.
Chapter 11
The Tower of Babel
During the time of King Nimrod, when every man spoke the same language, the king had great power and wanted to build the highest tower in the world that reached into the sky so that he could make a name for himself. Nimrod forgot about God as the tower was being built, so the Lord became angry and decided to limit the power of man because they had a great propensity toward evil. He knew that nothing could stop them from doing what they please, so he confused their language. They could not understand each other, and fights broke out. The tower was never finished. This was the city they called Babel, and its people were scattered all over the earth, speaking different languages and abandoning their family heritage, religion, and God.
The line from Shem to Abram
Shem had a great-grandson named Eber who had a descendant named Terah. Terah lived in the rich city of Ur with his two sons, Abram and Nahor, plus one grandson named Lot. Lot’s father was Haran, a son of Terah who passed away. Abram’s wife was Sarai, and Nahor’s wife was Milcah. God spoke to Abram and told him to leave Ur for the land of Canaan. He left with the whole family and moved to the northern land near Aram and settled there until his father, Terah, died. Abram became the family patriarch, and then God again began to converse with him.
Chapter 12
Abram’s Call and Migration
God said to Abram, Go forth from the land of your father’s house to the land I show you. I will bless you and make of you a great nation and make your name great. I will also bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.
Nahor stayed behind, and Abram left with Sarai, his nephew Lot, and their followers. They traveled through Canaan where they were unwanted, so they passed through to avert war. They finally stopped in Shechem when the Lord appeared to Abram with these words, To your descendants, I give this land.
Abram built an altar to the Lord and then journeyed on to the Negev desert further south.
Abram and Sarai in Egypt
When a famine came upon the land, Abram had no choice but to journey to Egypt for food. He instructed Sarai to say she was his sister
