Prescriptions for Success: My Perspective
()
About this ebook
This book is designed to stimulate our thinking and to remind us of what we already know for the most part. Hopefully, it will help us develop a greater value system and recognize our self-worth. What really matters to you? Each individual is ultimately accountable for himself. So let's not waste time on trivial matters such as keeping up with the Joneses. Decide what your primary purpose is here on earth, and use your mind, body, and spirit toward accomplishing your purpose. I believe that one of my life's purpose is to give back and share some of my life lessons. Of course, I have been doing this for years. A few years ago, I started giving my family members a booklet each Christmas with a potpourri of motivational information based on Christian values. These words kept coming up in my spirit: "Tell the people." And my answer to this was "They will not listen," and that's when it hit me to write it down, and if they are not ready to hear it, they can read it later. I am concerned about my fellowman's health, well-being, and soul. My desire is to serve as a positive role model and motivator for others. Plus, the intrinsic rewards of helping others are great. This book should serve as an introduction to a successful life. It can be used as a resource. I am a teacher from the heart, and I believe in this Chinese proverb "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and feed him for a lifetime." My favorite Bible verse is what gets me through life: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

Dedication
I am dedicating this book to my late parents, Aaron and Modie McCreary Towne; my late husband Willie A. Coleman; and my three sons Cyrus, Denisho, and Michael Coleman, who have been my anchor for all these years.
Above all, I am taking this opportunity to thank God for all of His blessings throughout my life. I became a widow when my youngest son, Michael, was just two years old. Being a young widow, I was wondering how I was going to make it without the breadwinner
of the house. But I quickly learned that if you seek God first, He will supply all of your needs. Little did I know or realize that God had blessed me through my children; that is, children that grew up in the admonition of the Lord, who would be obedient and a blessing to their mother. Today I know and understand the true meaning of the Bible verse But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you
(Matthew 6:33). By the way, this is my favorite verse. I taught my children the best that I could from my Christian values, and that is to do what is right regardless of what others do or say. They have inspired me to want to reach out to others and share a few things that have blessed me and my family.
Having acknowledged how God has blessed me through my sons, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Cyrus, Denisho, and Michael Coleman for their obedience, commitment, and love for me through the years. It means so much to me, and I love you dearly.
Introduction
Only one life and it will soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
This is a little something to think about. In my old house, I had this verse on a plaque hanging on my wall because I knew how important it was, and I wanted to be reminded. Plus, I wanted my children to remember that. Now when I moved to my new house, I didn’t put it back up. I wonder why. Did it not fit in with my new décor? Was I too busy getting my new furniture? Well, for whatever reason, by that time, I had it embedded in my heart, and I am often reminded of this important fact.
At this point in my life, I am focusing on the things eternal instead of worldly things. I know that my only hope for success and everlasting life is staying prayed up and trusting in God to guide me on a daily basis. I have no problem forgiving others because I realize that if I don’t forgive, God will not forgive me; plus, I can never be free, happy, or successful if I don’t forgive. I hear people all the time talking about people mistreating them and being in bondage because of that. Don’t give anyone that kind of power over you. Forgive and be free.
Focus on what’s important; don’t waste your time on what others do or say. Why not focus on your successes and what your legacy will be?
Now I would like to share with you A Prescription for Success: My Perspective because you can be or do anything in life that you really want to…if you are willing to work hard enough. I will be sharing with you ways to help you get the best life lessons that I can based on my experiences. You don’t want to settle for anything less than the best. I want you to read carefully so you can continue to be successful. I am sure that you want to be what we call successful. So my question is, How do you spell success? A question you may want to think about. Is it money, a nice home, a luxury car, a yacht, a happy family, salvation, or all of the above?
Success has a lot to do with your values; that is, what is important to you. Values are our principles, standard morals, ethics, and integrity. We all have values, which are the basis for our behavior, attitudes, and ultimately, our circumstances in life.
