Yesterday, Today, and Evermore

About this ebook
The writer has attempted to show, in a world of shock and awe, God's hope, love, and assurance for today, tomorrow, and evermore. The way we live our lives while on earth will determine our fate at the end of our lives. Whatever a person's profession, he owes his past, present, and future to the Creator who has given to us so abundantly that we might have life everlasting, which is the goal of this book. A vain attempt has been made to strengthen Christians in their role for Christian service. For when life is over, to spend eternity with the Author and Finisher of life is the hope of all human life. A realization that Jesus hears and answers our prayers and helps us solve our problems gives us the blessed assurance that God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. I am the light of the world, he that followeth me, shall have the light of life (Jh 8:12). I am the good Shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep (Jh 10:11). I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved (Jh 10:9). I am the resurrection, and the life; whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (Jh 11:25). I am the way and the truth and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me (Jh 14:6). I am the vine, if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you (Jh 15:7). I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last (Rev. 22:13).

In appreciation for their faith, love, and encouragement, this book is affectionately dedicated to my
mother, father, and Christian friends
Introduction
Having spent most of my life as a biologist and a Christian, I have been awed, shocked, surprised, and inspired about how our existence began and the many struggles most have with their journey through life. My spiritual and scientific backgrounds have given me an enormous love for God’s creation, creatures, and all His handiwork in nature.
The pages that follow are an attempt to share the hope, love, and assurance that Christians must always have in their journeys through life today, tomorrow, and always. It is the goal of this book to manifest and portray the deep and the magnificent blessings and love of our Maker.

Today
Shock and Awe for Today
Approach to the Present
We may look backward or forward and observe the life changes that have occurred, are occurring, and will occur, but we must admit that God is always there and we have a wonderful assurance that He is with the present generation as He was with the past generation, and will be with the future generation. Miracles are still occurring and will never cease to occur because God is ever present
There are many threats in our rapidly advancing scientific world. Man has become so intelligent that he is capable of self-destruction, in addition to wiping out the human population with deadly devices such as the atomic bomb or the hydrogen bomb. In the face of all this, we shall not fear for we know He is with us. We should, however, be aware of the fact that after death comes the judgment, and we should strive to live now the way that will be acceptable to our Judge when life is over.
Today’s Problems
Our nation has become morally weak and many problems confront us. The editor of the New York Times once received a letter from a little girl, and in this letter the little girl asked three questions:
Where did the world come from?
Where is the world going?
How did it get in the mess it is in today?
The first time he replied through the newspaper, he said, I do not know the answers to these questions, although I wish I could help you.
The second time, he wrote in the newspaper and said that he hoped the little girl had not read the morning edition because after thinking it over, he had come to the conclusion that all the answers to the little girl’s questions were in the Bible. For if we abide in the Father and His words we may ask what we will and it shall be done
(Jn 15:7).
In 1880, there was an estimate of one divorce out of twenty, and in 1910, there was an estimate of one divorce out of ten. In 1946, it was estimated three divorces out of ten, and today, it is 50–53 percent out of all marriages.
In 1945, there were 334,000 broken homes, about the same number of desertions, and mutual break-ups. Seven hundred thousand children turned out to be delinquents because of broken homes, personality damage, etc.
With 7.6 billion people in the world today, about two billion use alcohol and about 47 percent are females and 57 percent males use it. Actually, two billion are classified as alcoholics.
In 1949, eight and one half million dollars was spent for alcohol. In 2010, the amount rose to almost two and a quarter trillion dollars, whereas in all times past and present, much less has been spent for education, colleges, schools, universities, and libraries, books, health departments, etc. Opiates and other drugs have become a real problem in our country today. They have rendered problems maybe even worse than those mentioned above.
Nearly every 25.3 seconds, a violent crime is committed and about every 3.5 seconds a property crime occurs. More and more illegitimate children are born each year.
How are we going to solve all our various present-day problems? God has not failed, but we have. We, as Christians, can do something about these problems. We must be certain we have solved these problems in our own life, and we must have the right Christian attitude to help others solve them in their lives.
Today is the day for us to realize that we were saved to serve and for us to manifest qualities which are characteristics of saved people.
Tell me not in mournful numbers
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers
And things are not as they seem.
Life is real: Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest
was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment and not sorrow
Is our destined end or way;
But to act that each tomorrow
Find us farther than today.
Art is long, and time is fleeting
And our hearts, though stout and brave
Still like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world’s broad field of battle
In the bivouac of life
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no future, howe’er pleasant!
Let the dead Post bury its dead!
Act in the living presence!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
