    Gallant Goblin

The Gallant Goblins, how did we begin? I suppose it started after our home was demolished. Until that point, my brothers and I were enslaved by hobgoblins. I had talent with magic, so I was being taught by a magic-using hobgoblin. My brothers learned the ways of the forge. I never cared for hobgoblins. They, and everyone else, treat goblins like dirt. Hell, even goblinoid gods hate goblins. You see, a fair number of goblins just going along because that’s all we can do.

That day we were attacked is still a blur to me. I woke up with a woozy head and a broken leg. I looked around and called for my brothers, Sivart and Mada. When I heard two Terbs in response, I was happy. They came to me as I couldn’t move, and seven other goblins came to us. Ten left, and I was happy it was ten goblins. After getting my leg splinted and finding the books from the wizard I was learning from, we left for a better life.

The plan was simple: Make armor and weapons to be sold to soldiers and adventurers. First, we needed a forge for my brothers. I knew a spell so we could move it without hassle and one to heat it. The forge was easy to find. There was an old human smith that our group dealt with. Every time a goblin went, they would come back burnt from the coals of the forge. We went at night when the human slept. Then I used my magic to shrink the forge and we left.

Well, we left after putting a hot coal in his bed. It was Sivart’s idea. I just made the coal hot. Anyway, after we got the forge, we began making armor and weapons. We stole the materials from the smith along with the forge. We never stole after this, I swear! Five of us worked the forge—my brothers, two males, and a female. Mada and Sivart were the only ones who knew what to do, so they became teachers. I worked with the other male and remaining females to figure out enchantment. I knew some things, but I hadn’t practiced.

The days came and went as we traveled and forged. We soon had some items to sell, but before we found customers, we found slavers. Hobgoblin slavers with about sixty goblins
