Introduction
This is a guide to successful living, an accumulation of spiritual practices and tools for obtaining confidence, peace, and happiness.
At our birth, we are an empty vessel, an infant with only those inherited qualities and family traits each of us are given. We grow up into an adult. We can thank, or maybe not thank, our parents and family, our teachers and friends for their influence on us.
As a child, we tend to trust most of what we hear and see, and early experiences tend to become the truth, having a lasting impression, regardless of the source.
Eventually, what we hold to be true will define who we become.
We can measure the goodness of what we believe and feel by the success we enjoy as adults.
We experience two very separate yet highly related realms: the physical and the spiritual.
There is the physical world where most of our experience comes from. It is what we see, hear, feel, smell, and taste that has the greatest impact on our development. There is no avoiding it. It is where we live; it is what we know best.
To a more limited degree, we experience the spiritual realm, including our personal gifts and aptitudes, our creative capacity, a consciousness of good and evil, a soul and resident personal spirit, faith and the connection to our creator. Developing knowledge of the spiritual realm releases a power that is available in no other way.
Becoming spiritual is a choice. Somewhere along the way, we are given the opportunity to develop our spiritual capabilities. I have yet to meet a person that has not given thought to spiritual issues and recognizes that, in addition to their physical qualities, they also have a soul, an inner private self.
If we are to consider the spiritual realm, then we need to consider religion, the formal organizations that provide a place for spiritual endeavor. It’s not necessary to belong to a formal religion to be spiritual. Our
