About this ebook

As a body of believers, we have over complicated what it means to love God and love others while also failing to acknowledge, understand, explain, and participate in the full commission of Jesus Christ. Overall, the church has preached the Gospel, but has failed to teach the whole counsel of God by not instructing people how to walk in complete freedom while they help restore others into right relationship with Jesus. This book will show you how to walk in your complete identity as a Christian while wreaking havoc on the kingdom of darkness by preaching the Gospel, healing the sick, and delivering those held captive by the enemy. You will learn what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ who walks in the salvation, authority, and power he died to give us.

    About the Author

    Preface

    Right now, there is a void in the Church for clear and concise instruction on what it means to know God. Too many preachers are standing in pulpits doing an eight-part series on a subject that can be taught with eight verses of Truth. Too many pastors have become enslaved to salaries, possessions, fame, platform, status, and their own following that we have robbed people of the simple Truth needed to live their lives daily as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

    This book was written in effort to pierce to the core of some of the issues and questions that exist among Christians today. My hope is that it equips you to become a more effective disciple of Jesus Christ. My prayer is that it will touch you in a way that leads to action.

    This book covers many different subjects, but is not meant to be exhaustive on all of them. In some areas, it will be more complete, and in other areas, it will be merely introductory. In the event you are introduced to something new that is not covered completely in this book, there are many authors who have been anointed to write on various subjects. Pray to the Holy Spirit for discernment as you choose additional books to read and equip yourself. However, do all of this, keeping in mind the words of King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 12:12–13:

    But beyond these, my son, be warned: there is no end to the making of many books, and much study wearies the body. When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity.

    Too much reading, exploring, studying, learning, and writing books outside of the Bible can be a bad thing. Be careful that you do not spend so much time reading and studying books that you do not spend any time in the book—the Bible. The only book that is alive. The only book that is pure Truth.

    We are called to grow in the knowledge and the wisdom of the Lord, but we must never forget that the knowledge and wisdom gained must be applied in order for the world to be reached with the love of the Father and the good news of Jesus Christ.

    The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

    —2 Corinthians 13:13

    Introduction

    So many Christians are running around trying to figure everything out. They chase things like clarity, destiny, direction, knowledge, power, wisdom, blessing, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, fullness, pleasure, happiness, etc.

    If not all of those things, most are at least chasing the fullness of love, peace, joy, and happiness.

    But what if you could chase one thing that would lead you into all of those other things?

    This book will teach you how to focus on the one thing that produces all the other things we chase in our life.

    That one thing is the Presence of God.

    A verse I wish I would have known from the beginning is John 17:3: Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ.

    The word for that they may know you in the Greek is "ginōskō" which means

    to learn to know, come to know, get a knowledge of perceive, feel;

    to become known

    to know, understand, perceive, have knowledge of;

    Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman; and

    to be acquainted with, to know.

    In short, it means to know and be known intimately. How do we get to know God and experience eternal life? The answer is that we spend time with Him, or in other words, we spend time in His Presence.

    The problem is that most Christians don’t know how to spend time in His presence, or they only know part of what it means to spend time in His presence. Most think this means going to church, reading your Bible, and joining a small group. And while it is no less than these things, it is certainly much more.

    In order to be a disciple who effectively makes disciples, you must first know how to spend time in the Lord’s presence.

    This training will teach you how to spend time in His presence, and by the end of it, we will answer three questions:

    How do you get to know God?

    How
