This book is about the invisible war that existed behind every visible war throughout history. Its combatants are God and His holy angels versus Satan and his evil angels. It also involves man who is at the center of the battlefield.

The goal of each kingdom (God's and Satan's) is to possess the earth and mankind who occupies it. The statement "to the victor belongs the spoils" is truly involved here.

All mankind is involved in this conflict. Let us take our place in the ranks of God's army. Remember, God fights. God wins.

Chapter 1

The War

The world is at war. The mind of man is at war. Declared or undeclared, the war and/or wars go on. Daniel saw wars between nations and kingdoms. One historian said that there have been approximately two hundred years of peace in recorded history.

Where did conflict begin? What is the cause of the conflicts? There may be many secondary reasons, sometimes border disputes, religious conflict, festering wounds from past oppressions, and a host of other points of disagreement.

The real reason, however, for conflict and war is rebellion against the righteous government of almighty God. Man is at war with God. As a result, his puny attempts at conflict resolution with his fellow man end in less-than-stellar results.

We asked the question previously, Where did conflict begin? Research reveals that all conflict began before time began in eternity past. The original problem was between God and a magnificent angel that He (God) had placed in a prominent position of authority. Information is limited, but scripture gives us glimpses of the origin of the difficulty that began between God and Lucifer.

The question seems to plague us. Why did God create the devil? The answer is that God did not create the devil or Satan as he is also called; He created Lucifer. As a result of his pride and insubordination, Lucifer became the devil.

The second question that bothers us even more is, why does God allow him to continue until this day with his enterprises of hate, oppression, and destruction? We can offer enlightened speculation and conjecture, but God alone knows and understands all his reasons for this prolonged reign of ruin and sorrow for people on this planet.

It looks as though God is complicit in this satanic reign of destruction by allowing Satan to continue. He is not, however, as we shall see. It challenges our frail minds when we consider these facts.

We must not allow the things that we don’t understand to destroy the things that we do understand. By faith, we understand that God is totally good in every way. When earth’s last picture is painted, we shall see this more clearly. Let us wait patiently and pray daily for the return of Christ to this earth to destroy His and our archenemy.

What role does man have to play in the struggle between God and Satan, between good and evil, between darkness and light? It is obvious that not only is man involved but also he is the primary focus of the war.

The war is between God and Satan, between good angels and evil angels, and between man and Satan’s kingdom of darkness. Everything that God chooses to bless, Satan immediately tries to curse.

God’s primary choices are the nation of Israel and the Christian Church. Satan hates both and wages an unending war against them.

This hatred of Abraham’s descendants is discovered early in scripture. Satan ushered in through false Gods, evil deities, and evil people who fought against God’s people through the centuries.
