Chapter 1

There was this woman named Ebony, born and raised in Chicago. Ebony had a pretty hard life. She was a single mother of two girls. One of her daughters’ name was Samantha, and the baby girl’s name was Hunter. The two girls were like night and day; in the beginning, Ebony could not see this, but she would soon realize just how different they were. Ebony would soon realize that her firstborn had a dark eerie side to her, but the years would pass before Ebony would realize. Ebony was with Samantha’s father for six years off and on but came to grips that she just could not stay with him because he was abusive (mentally) and he was a cheater. He even cheated during her pregnancy.

Ebony was around seven months pregnant when she started having complications with her baby trying to come early. One morning, Ebony had to call the rescue squad because her contractions were so close together and she could not drive herself to the hospital. Ebony recalled when she got to the hospital, the doctor gave her IV with medicine in it to stop the contractions. What Ebony did not find out until later on that evening was the reason she was having early contractions was because Samantha’s father, the unborn baby’s father, had given her a sexually transmitted disease. Ebony remembered confronting his dirty ass about it, and of course, he denied it.

The truth later came out because he had to get tested for the exact same thing because the dirty slut called his phone and left a message and Ebony heard the message. The message said, I am sorry, Dwayne. I know you probably don’t want to be with me after this, but I gave you an STD. But I did not know I had it, so you and your baby mama better go get checked!

Dwayne finally told Ebony the truth after she tested positive, but by this time, Ebony had already dumped Dwayne before baby Samantha (Sam) was born. Dwayne tried to come around after Sam was born, but he was not trying to be there for the baby; he was trying to get back with Ebony. Over time, Ebony kept refusing Dwayne’s advances, and eventually, he said fuck her and the baby. Ebony was cool with that. Ebony refused to be unhappy with Dwayne or anyone else at any cost.

As time went on, Ebony raised her baby alone. Ebony did start to notice little things about Sam, but she ignored them, thinking it was just her imagination. When Sam turned ten months old, she was walking; when she was eleven months old, she knew how to operate a tablet; when Sam was two years old, she was reading and having adult conversations. It was certain things that just didn’t seem to be normal. Sam was really advanced for her age. Ebony never talked to anyone about this.

Chapter 2

Four years later

As time passed, Ebony met a guy who she thought may have been the one, finally. This guy was a chef at a restaurant. He always cooked for her and Sam. He spent time with the two of them; they went places all the time. Hell, he accepted Sam as if she was his own. Sam was four years of age at this time. It seemed like the happier Ebony became, the meaner Sam became. Ebony started to take notice in Sam’s strange behavior. Ebony figured maybe it was something wrong with Dominick. Ebony thought to herself, Grandma always said babies and kids can sense things before grown-ups can. Ebony decided to keep dating Dominick but pay attention to any signs that he may be giving off, only because of how Sam was acting.

Ebony never left Sam alone with Dominick; that was something that she just did not do. One reason was Dominick was not Sam’s father, and the other reason was she did not trust people to a certain extent—and still don’t to this day. This was also something that Ebony’s mother taught her: Never leave your baby with a man, especially a little girl. Ebony’s mother was old-school; she felt it was, and still is, the mother’s obligation to change a baby girl’s diaper, not a father’s.

Two years had passed, and Dominick and Ebony’s relationship was still going strong. They were very much in love. Well, so Ebony thought. Sam was now six years of age, and Ebony noticed that Sam was wiser and more hateful than ever.

Chapter 3

Sam was six years of age when Ebony found out that she was pregnant with Hunter. Ebony was excited because she felt like Dominick was the one. Ebony called Dominick later on that evening and he came over, and that was when she told him she was pregnant. Dominick was not thrilled at all.

Ebony said, What is the problem? I thought you would be happy! And what did you think was going to happen? We have been fucking like rabbits for over a year unprotected!

Dominick said, I… Nothing. It’s fine!

Ebony said, Oh no. Say what you mean! Use your words!

Dominick said, I was not completely honest with you?

Ebony said, Come again?

Dominick said, I have been with you and my ex-girlfriend—at the same time.

Ebony said, Is that right? Ebony slapped the hell out of Dominick.

Dominick said, Are you done?

Ebony said, Yeah, motherfucka! We are done!

Dominick said she is pregnant too!"

Ebony said, Leave! Get out! And y’all be happy. Enjoy your life together.

Dominick said, I want you.

Ebony said, No, I am cool.

Dominick said, I will see my baby!

Ebony said, Good luck with that!

When Dominick did this to Ebony, this made her bitter and hateful, and she hated every man walking around on God’s green earth. After Dominick dropped this bombshell on Ebony, she needed time alone to wrap her head around things, so she called her sister Dianae up to see if she would watch Sam for three hours or so. Dianae had no problem watching her baby niece. Ebony gathered some of Sam’s toys and a little bit of snacks in a bag, just to keep her occupied while she was with her auntie. Sam really did not want to go, but Ebony told Sam, I will be back to get you.

Sam said, Okay, Mommy!

Ebony finally arrived at her sister’s house around thirty minutes later. Ebony pulled into her sister’s driveway and put the car in park. She sat there for a second and sighed. Sam picked up on her mother’s sadness instantly. Sam said, Mommy, Mommy, are you okay?

Ebony said, Yes, baby! I am fine.

Ebony unfastened her seat belt and got out the car to go open up the back car door so she could let Sam out the car and walk her up to the porch to meet with her Aunt Dianae. Dianae was already waiting at the door because she had heard Ebony pull up in the driveway. Ebony and Sam walked up to the door. Sam grabbed her mother’s hand, and Ebony noticed Sam had somewhat of a smirk on her face; but she brushed it off.

Dianae said, There’s my baby!

Sam let go of her mother’s hand and ran toward her auntie. Ebony thought to herself, Okay, that’s weird Sam was just saying how she did not want to come over here. Ebony ignored her thoughts again.

Dianae said, Hey, how is it going, lil sis?

Ebony said, Good.

Dianae took one look at her and knew her sister was lying. Dianae said, Baby, go put your things inside the house, and Auntie will be in there in a minute.

Sam said, Okay, Auntie.

Chapter 4

Dianae said, What’s up, Ebony? Ebony said nothing. Dianae said, Don’t fucking lie to me. Your eyes are red and puffy like you have been crying.

Ebony said, I have!

Dianae said, Why is that?

Ebony said, I found out I am pregnant!

Dianae said, So? Dianae said, That’s good news, bitch!

Ebony said, No, stupid-ass, it’s not!

Dianae said, Why not? Dianae said, Is Dominick happy?

Ebony said, That bastard has been going back and forth between me and his ex-girlfriend, and I never knew this. And she is pregnant too!

Dianae said, Hell naw. Let’s go to that nigga’s job! Better yet, let’s wait till he get off and bust a cap in his ass.

Ebony said, Really, Rambo? This what we doing?

Dianae said, Hell yeah!

Ebony said, This is why I hate telling your crazy-ass shit. Ebony said, I am leaving. I will be back later.

Dianae said, Okay, but this shit ain’t over!

Ebony chuckled and rubbed her belly and said, Bye, crazy bitch! I love you! I will be back.

Ebony got back in her car and she left. She picked up a fruit salad and got herself a hot tea, and she put a lemon slice in it before heading home. Ebony finally got home and threw her car keys on the table, and she sat down. Ebony started to sip on her tea, then her mind started to wonder, not about Dominick but about Samantha. Ebony could not help but think how smart her baby girl was, but she also thought to herself some of the creepy things that Sam was doing. Ebony often had to catch herself at times with things she would say because Sam knew how to hold grown-up conversations with her, and she would have to remember that she was only a child.

Ebony also recalled a time before she and Dominick and broke up. Sam would always squeeze in between the two of them because she did not want his arm around her. If Dominick would try to kiss me, she would often try to put her hand in the way to block his kisses. At the time, I thought it was cute and Sam just wanted me to herself, but as time goes on, it will not be so cute.

Chapter 5

Ebony Thinking to Herself

Ebony thought to herself, Now that I am four months pregnant, I have to take my naps. Ebony recalled one particular day waking up and catching Sam watching her sleep, staring at her stomach as if she was angry, because she knows another baby is coming. Ebony chuckled, talking to herself, saying, No, it’s my imagination, right? Sam is my baby, Sam is my blood, Sam is my rose, Sam is my blood rose. My baby is only six years old. She can’t be this smart and creepy at the same time.

It’s my imagination. It’s my hormones. Then Ebony’s thoughts were interrupted when her cell phone rang. Ebony answered the phone, Hello? Hello?

Finally, she heard someone on the other end. They sighed; it was a deep sigh like a man’s voice. Ebony said, Dominick! Is that you?

Dominick said, Yes, it’s me.

Ebony said, May I help you?

Dominick said, I want to be with you. I am sorry!

Ebony said, Sorry! Negro, you were living a double fucking life, with a whole different female. How in the world am I supposed to forgive you for that or even begin to get past it? Ebony went on to say that he knew what she had been through in her past and still decided to screw her over.

Ebony started sobbing, and Dominick said, Baby, please don’t cry!

Ebony said, Nigga, don’t get it twisted. These are pregnant hormones that have me in disarray because you are not worth my tears!

Dominick said, Can I at least see you in person so we can talk?

Ebony said, For what?

Dominick said, I bought the baby some clothes.

Ebony said, You don’t even know what I am having.

Dominick said, What we are having?

Ebony said, "No, what I am having."

Dominick said, Can I bring the clothes over to you, please?

Ebony said, Yes, give me an hour.

Dominick said, Okay, that will give me time to go home and shower and grab the baby clothes. I just got off from work.

Ebony said, Yeah, all right. Whatever!

Chapter 6

Ebony was not feeling the greatest, and her hormones were all over the place. She was sexually aroused easily, especially with this pregnancy; if a man looked good or even smelled good, that had her going. Of course, she did not act on her feelings, but it just made her sexually frustrated because she was now single and could not act on how she was feeling. It was definitely the pregnancy hormones.

Ebony decided to take her a warm bubble bath before Dominick came over to bring her the baby clothes. Ebony sat down in the bathtub and lathered up from head to toe. She rubbed soap over her slightly plump belly. Ebony was just around four and a half months, almost five. After Ebony got done lathering up, she started rising off. She then felt her baby kick. Ebony smiled and touched her stomach, and the baby followed her hand. After Ebony finished rinsing off, she started drying herself off. Ebony then started putting Victoria Secret lotion on; it smelled soft like a light floral smell.

Ebony grabbed her pink bath robe off the back of the door; it was freshly washed that had a Downy smell to it. She put it on and tied the belt around her waist. She then headed toward her bedroom to grab a pair of underwear and a bra. Just as she headed to the bedroom, she heard a knock on the door. She walked toward the door and pulled the curtain back. It was Dominick. Ebony rolled her eyes and let him in.

When Dominick came in, he left the door open. He had a lot of baby clothes for the baby. Ebony looked through them and said, These are nice. Thank you.

Dominick said, Please forgive me?

Ebony said, I can’t do that.

Dominick got up and shut the door, and he walked back over toward Ebony. Dominick pushed the bags from in front of Ebony and said, Ebony, I love you. I fucked up.

Dominick ran his hands through Ebony’s hair as he looked at her in her eyes. Ebony looked back at Dominick but immediately turned away. Dominick then got down on his knees. He was smelling good; he was wearing Calvin Klein cologne. He kissed Ebony’s neck, then he ran his tongue up her neck slowly.

Ebony pushed Dominick back slightly, but not really. Dominick leaned in a little more and unfastened Ebony’s belt to her robe. Dominick started kissing Ebony as he was rubbing her breast. Dominick then stopped kissing Ebony and started kissing her breast. Then he started sucking on them as gently as he could.

Ebony said softly, Dominick, no!

Dominick pushed Ebony back and pulled her legs forward, and he then put her legs up on his shoulders; and he proceeded to give her oral sex.

Dominick rolled his tongue up and down all over her clitoris; he sucked on it so gently as if he was trying to get crab meat out the shell—Ebony never had it like that before. She screamed because of the multiple orgasms that she had. Then Dominick and Ebony had wild, passionate sex that night. Dominick eventually convinced Ebony to trust him and to try and work things out for the sake of the baby. She told him she would consider it, but she would not make any promises.

Chapter 7

Dominick said, That’s cool. I am going to hold you to that.
