    Chapter one

    Just the beginning

A long time ago, there was a petite young girl named Sadie. She was brought into a life of delusion and trauma. Sadie had three siblings, an older brother living with the grandparents at the time and two younger brothers named Chase and Ryan, who lived at home with her. Sadie saw the world as pure and innocent. Only later in life will she realize the world was not what it appeared to be. The world could be cold, dark, and ruthless. Sadie stayed for a while with her parents. She mainly stayed for a while with her mom. Her dad was in and out of jail all the time. Her dad was a drug addict. It only made sense that Sadie was away from her dad for a while. The mom chose the men before her kids. So one evening, while the mom was away. She had left the house that morning.

I'LL BE BACK. Lock the doors. the mom said. Sadie crawled out of bed and locked the doors. Sadie did what she was told, of her, to do by her mom. Later that morning, her baby brothers Chase and Ryan woke up.

Mom? Chase said. Mom said she will be back, replied Sadie.

The morning got longer. Chase and Ryan began to get hungry. Sadie went into the kitchen and made her brothers something to eat. She knew she was not allowed to touch the stove. Sadie was way too young even to reach the stove. So she made Chase cereal and made Ryan the same thing. She then cleaned the dishes after they finished. Sadie began to lay some clothes out for Chase and Ryan to put on. She was changing their diapers and getting them cleaned up to play. The day got longer, and the night fell in. Sadie does not know where the mom is.

She began to feed Chase and Ryan again. She was getting them ready for bed and putting her brothers to sleep. She was tucking them in and singing them a song so they could relax to sleep. Sadie stayed up after her brothers fell asleep. She was waiting and watching the door. Just in case her mom decided to come home. Her eyes were getting heavy and tired as she sat in the hallway. Her weary body finally just gave out. Sadie fell fast asleep. Sitting in the same spot, she sat.

The morning came. The sun shined in. Sadie opened her eyes to realize no mom was in sight. She got up and walked into her brother's room. She was checking to see if they were awake.

Chase and Ryan were up already playing in the room. She began to change their diapers. She was getting them cleaned all over again. Starting their morning and fixing them breakfast, the only thing she knew how to fix was cereal. Once again, the morning plays out again. This time she played with her brothers. Trucks and cars, anything to keep them entertained. Sadie had kept the boys inside for a whole day already. So getting them ready to go outside to play was no big deal to her. She took her brothers out to play. They sat in the yard playing with trucks and cars, unaware anyone could be watching. Sadie played with her brothers. She was watching strangers pass by them and not say anything. Sadie then finally began to take Chase and Ryan inside that evening. After playing outside the whole day. She began to change Chase and Ryan all over again. She was taking them a bath and changing their clothes for the night once again. Into the kitchen, she goes. She was fixing the only thing she could improve—feeding her brothers and putting the dishes into the sink to wash.
