About this ebook

Every Moment Is Now is a poetry collection that draws its inspiration from life, love, and the beautiful world in which we live. Each poem is designed to be taken on its own merit, and each poem is meant to allow the reader to feel as if they were a part of the poem. Sometimes, our emotions are so deeply tucked into hardened outer casings that we almost forget that they are there. Whether read quietly or aloud, the poems within this collection seek to soften that outer casing and allow the reader to feel the reward.

    Acknowledgments

I would like to take this chance to thank Cameron University’s Department of English and Foreign Languages, particularly the English Professors. The four years spent under their tutelage were both developmental and enjoyable. I feel as though it would be impossible to thank any one faculty member without mention of another, so I extend my profound thanks to each and every one of them.

I would also like to thank Wendy Dunmeyer for her advice, professionalism, and friendship.

A special thank you goes to Amber Byers of Tadpole Press for inspiring me to chase my dreams and for believing in me.

No thank you page could ever be complete without mention of my wife, Lucinda. I love you more than words can say.

    Introduction

In an attempt to seek more balance in my life, I thought it might be a good idea to give meditation a try. Cutting straight to the chase, I was able to attend online meditations and speak with resident monks. I was amazed at how attentive the monks were to my line of questioning and at how kind they were while sharing their thoughts.

What I view as the most meaningful of our conversations centered around what many of us often refer to as living in the now. So many of us speak so openly about what it means to be focused on the now, but I felt the need to dig deeper. It seems as if I was in the right place because the very conversation that I needed was already beginning to reveal itself. The monk explained how each moment was its own moment and then went on to demonstrate how we could treat any moment as a new beginning, should we so choose.
