    Dear Parents,

    Clover’s story is based on my own personal childhood lesson in saving money. I remember very clearly laying my eyes upon a giant stuffed Simba from The Lion King in a ToysRUs store. In that moment, I wanted nothing more than that stuffed animal. I had my allowance in hand, but it wasn’t anywhere near enough to get what I really wanted. After begging and pleading with my parents to pay the difference, they insisted it was time that I learned to save my money.

    Just as Clover’s dad promises to take her back to the store as soon as she saves up enough money, my parents made the same promise to me. Soon after, I opened my first savings account at my local bank and learned the value of saving. When I eventually returned to buy that stuffed Simba, it was on sale! My patience had
