About this ebook

PARENTING THE REMNANT GENERATION

The times we are living in as Christian parents are more challenging than ever, as the end-time is drawing even closer and the imminent return of our Savior Christ. The traditional biblically based parenting principles are being undermined by the ungodly perversive emerging world cultures along with new world order agenda. It seems our roles as parents have now been reduced to mere birthing children to be owned by governments.

The question is are you one of those parents seeking to raise uncompromisingly principled, steadfast, self-assured children in the fear of The Most High God and His Son Christ? Have you been doing everything you know how to do as parents, but still feel somehow inadequate?

Parenting The Remnant Generation, Updated and Revised Edition will help you to answer these questions and more as it provides insights and strategies for understanding your parental mandate and how to execute it. As you read this book, you will discover nuggets that can help to better position your children for their divinely assigned destiny.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Vuyo Tabitha B. N. Mpumlwana, PhD. is a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother who has had the privilege to parent her biological and nonbiological children. Her passion is to see families restored and children equipped to fulfill God's original plan for their lives. Through this book Dr. Mpumlwana offers parents the opportunity to explore their God-given mandate in parenting today's generation. During the latter part of the 1990s and early parts of 2000s Dr. Mpumlwana had an opportunity to serve The Most High God by ministering to children within disadvantaged communities in South Africa, and to care for HIV infected and affected orphaned babies.

Dr. Mpumlwana immigrated to Canada from South Africa in the early '80s after spending several years in refugee camps. She talks about her refugee experience as having contributed to the development of her passion for helping children and families in distress. May this book serve as a source of encouragement for God-fearing families who are determined to instill biblically based principles in their children despite the broken moral fiber of today's global societies.

Parenting the Remnant Generation - Vuyo Mpumlwana

    DEDICATION

In memory of my parents, Reverend Mandlamakhulu Phumelele Mpumlwana and Nomonde Ethel Mpumlwana, who have gone to join our forefathers at their resting place. They will be forever remembered for their unconditional love towards their five children and their commitment to godly parenthood.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

To begin with, I give all praises to our God Ahayah, to His Son Yashaya and to the Holy Spirit for the opportunity afforded to me to write this book as inspired by His Word, the Holy Bible. I am also deeply indebted to my Christian Teachers, for being a constant spiritual support in my life and for the inspiration they have given me as I revise this edition. Their Word-based teachings provided a solid foundation that helped me to work on this project.

My gratitude also goes to my dear South African friends – Pastor Simeon Maphalala, who was the founder and Bishop of Agape Tehillah Worship Centre, Soshanguve, Pretoria, who has now gone to rest, I believe he is in Abraham’s bosom. He generously took time out of his busy schedule to read my manuscript and provided me with constructive feedback. Your contribution will always be remembered and highly appreciated.

To my dear friend, Noloyiso Ketse, who worked with me on my Port Elizabeth Eastern Cape project which focused on restoring the lives of abandoned babies who were infected and affected with HIV-AIDS, thank you. Willingly sharing your firsthand experience with these children provided insightful feedback invaluable to me as I completed this book.

To my children, Nambitha, Phumela, Patience, and Samuel; and to all my grandchildren, thank you for teaching me to not take parenting for granted. Your abilities to challenge my parenting skills helped me to discover that I am incompetent without The Holy Spirit’s guidance.

    FOREWORD

I was honored to have an opportunity to read the manuscripts of this Book before it was published. I was amazed and inspired by the level of wisdom revealed in it. The presentation is Professional, Spiritual and Bible based. This is one book that will help every willing parent to gain insight, strategy, and knowledge, which are the needed tools to embark on this important God given responsibility to fulfill Parental assignment. I recommend this Book to Pastors, Educators, Parents, community leaders and to everyone who desires to see our societies and Nation transformed.

This book is indeed a living Word from God to Build a House according to Psalms 127: 1 Except the Lord build a House, They labor in vain that build it… As much as there can be no City without a House, there can be no community or nation without a Family. A healthy family will obviously produce a healthy society and nation. The book is written in such a way that wherever you start reading, you will find yourself absorbed and captivated to continue reading. I am so glad that we have such a powerful Parenting manual. I pray that you too may become restored, inspired and motivated to become a better Parent as you prayerfully read through this wonderful Book written by my Elder Sister, friend, colleague and Psychologist, Dr. Vuyo B.N. Mpumlwana.

    PREFACE

We are living in the days where lawlessness and outright rebellion against The Most High, Ahayah Ashar Ahayah, has become the norm and way of life. An area that clearly shows the fruit of this ungodly lifestyle is the poor quality of parenting in relation to The Most High’s requirement. This area has resulted in an unprecedented high level of rebellion among today’s children and youths. Nevertheless, since The Most High God is never taken by surprise, He has prepared Himself a Remnant [a surviving trace or vestige] Generation who will not bow to the pressures, demands and values of the times but remain strong, rooted and grounded in His precepts and ways. However, it has always been HIS intention to partner with parents who are committed to His plan and purpose in raising this generation.

Being a successful [victorious, triumphant, and purposeful] parent of the Remnant Generation (RG) demands a lifestyle of sanctification and complete obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. It requires total commitment and an understanding that the position of parenting itself is a ministry to The Most High.

Because the devil [Satan, the adversary] is a deceiver who is in violent opposition to The Most High’s Word, His plan and purpose for the lives of His children, parenting the Remnant Generation will require engaging in warfare. The enemy also has a plan for our children, and it is to steal, kill and destroy their destiny and distort The Most High’s Word in their lives. Therefore, as RG parents, we must be spiritually violent against the enemy and enforce The Most High God’s Word and His parenting plan.

However, going to the battlefield with the enemy is a dangerous move if, as parents, we have areas that give him legal rights to launch an offence against us through our rebellious behavior. The truth is that most of us, who grew up under Christian churches, have not been taught to obey and shape our behavior according to The Most High’s Laws and Commandments (Exodus 20). Thus, we were comfortable in practicing sin by breaking these laws, for sin is the transgression of these laws. That is why, as RG parents, it is imperative that we adhere to these Laws which our Christian pastors often told us that they are done away with. I believe therefore that if we are to be effective partners in The Most High God’s assignment for parenting the Remnant Generation, our foundation must be cleansed, redeemed and in right standing so that we are able to fully discern and understand His instructions through His Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

    CHAPTER ONE

    PARENTING GOD’S ASSIGNED MANDATE

For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous (Genesis 18:19).

I was four years old when I would go with my grandmother to her little garden of vegetables. She would pick some red chili peppers, chew them, and give some to me to eat. I would bravely chew and swallow with tears running down my face, all the while hiding from her that I was being challenged by the task. You see, I never wanted to disappoint my grandmother as I perceived that sharing her garden and these moments with me was her sharing her love. Her willingness to take care of
