About this ebook

Dont chase mammon and allow demons to chase your children.

Parenting
For far too long, Christians have taken the divine commission of parenting for granted. They do not realize that leaving a godly legacy for their children is the most important investment they can make in their lifetime. The time has come for the people of God to rise up, take responsibility, and obey the divine command of bringing their children before the Lord. Are you ready to train your children in a godly manner that will bring joy and success to your family? Then this book is for you.

In this book, Pastor Jones Boakye unveils the secrets, concepts, and strategies of parenting using biblical insights and real-life examples to teach parents the true Christian way of handling children and teenagers.

As you journey through the pages in this book, ruminate on the assertion below:
Most parents dont understand teenagers, churches dont know the difference between the teenager and the youth, and the nation is totally confused about the placement of teens in the society.

On a bright and sunny Sunday morning, two incessant cries are heard from two women in labour at the same hospital. Two husbands who work at the same bank but at different branches rush to the hospital at approximately the same time in different cars but of the same brand. They both arrive just in time to witness the birth of their male children which occurs at virtually the same time. Their wives were overjoyed and left the hospital the next day at almost the same time to their homes in similar neighbourhoods.

Nineteen years later, Kuuku, the son of the first couple is found in one of the Universities in Ghana, pursuing a degree in law and has just received an invitation to further his education in a prestigious University overseas with full funding. Kwabena, the son of the second couple, in the same time span is being arraigned before the Fast Track Court, charged with drug trafficking and fraud.

These two young boys were born naive on the same day at about the same time in practically the same circumstances and brought up under very similar economic and social conditions. But they turned out completely different from each other.

Pastor Jones is my sister’s first son. In his early childhood days, Jones lived with me while I was teaching in St. Monica’s Secondary School, Mampong Ashanti.

As a child, Jones had been an embodiment of wisdom and determination and still is. He always accomplished his task with excellence. I am happy that God has raised him to such heights. I was delighted when he disclosed to me his intention of writing a book on parenting. This topic has always been dear to my heart. In fact I have been teaching parents in my church about it during women’s and children’s week celebrations. Parenting is probably the most difficult task assigned to us by God.

This book has been carefully prepared with good and relevant biblical references to always remind us of how to go about this God-given assignment. I therefore urge all parents and guardians to have time to digest it well and give it a practical application in their homes.

Let us remember that peace in the family, society, nation and the world at large depends on good and godly parenting. Bravo! Kwasi. I am very proud of you. God bless you and make you a strong pillar in the family.

Some people lay up money, houses, cars and other possessions as an inheritance for their children, but the greatest inheritance you can leave for your children is a good Christian upbringing. It is God’s duty to give you a child but it’s your responsibility to make them responsible children or citizens. By God’s programme, our children are destined to be great, blessed and mighty.

His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

    Psalms 112:2

The mission of parenting can be confusing and overwhelming. As Christians, we are not just expecting our children to act properly—we want to see them love and honour God with all their hearts. But what do we do day in and day out to shape the hearts of our children? The Bible has the answers! Whether you have toddlers or teens, the Bible-driven principles in this book have the power to change your family and the generations to come.

Pastor Jones points us to a strong biblical thoughtprovoking and practical step by step approach. The truths he teaches will convict, challenge, and inspire you to be the parent God has created you to be. You will see yourself and your children in the pages of this book. Pay attention and glean from the authors’ collective experience and insight. You will lay hold on strategies that are effective, creative, realistic and proven.

We often don’t think of scripture as a source of parenting principles. That is about to change for you as you read this book. You will be inspired to be a better parent regardless of the ages of your children or the challenges they present. Written in an engaging style with powerful examples and illustrations, this material reminds parents of the power of gospel principles to assist them in their sacred stewardship of training the children of our Father in Heaven. I heartily endorse this book as an extremely helpful and practical aid to those parents seeking to find reassurance in the process of raising their children.

    Rev. Richard A. Daniels

Senior Pastor, Winners Chapel Ghana, Accra

Pastor Jones’ passion for the work he is doing for teenagers is simply evident in the strength, boldness and urgency with which the message is presented.

The wealth of experience gained over the years coupled with the depth of knowledge and understanding of the word of God, its application and relevance, make this book priceless. This indeed, is the work of the Holy Spirit.

The presentation is direct, frank and authoritative. This book is not only for parents. Every home must have a copy. Schools must have copies. There must be copies in offices and on the shelves of every library.

Thank you very much Pastor Jones

Iam very pleased that you have taken time to write this book to enlighten parents and uplift children. May the Lord God Almighty bless you abundantly.

Laying emphasis on chapter five (5) HOME TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN. Whether both parents are together, separated or single, it is your responsibility to home train your child. Children’s home training should start from the ages of two. Parents usually say the child is not old enough but I say if you don’t start training early to infuse godly values in them, they will refuse these values when old. When the spiritual uplifting is strong, which I termed as the home training, the upside down world cannot have any influence on the child physically.

Let’s be role models to our children (This has helped me tremendously as a parent). Meditating deeply on the word of Proverbs 22:6, God revealed to me that children become our friends and confidant when we train and teach them God’s word. This scripture works both ways for both the parent and the child to be upright.

One important thing I’ve noticed is God is a God of order. When you start bearing children, parents do not get adequate time to train and teach them rather they chase after money. Your child should be your money; you must work, teach and train your money (your child). After their teen years, you will see yourself surrounded by God’s blessings because you have raised godly children.

Parents must teach their children the ways of God, when a man’s way pleases God he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Don’t let us rush to make money and neglect the home and the children, after we have done God’s own, He himself will bless us and will add no sorrow to our lives and that of our family. I have tasted, tested and tried Him and I know He (God) is true.

I sincerely recommend this special book to all parents. Thank you and God bless you.

This book Parenting: Raising Godly Seed’ by Pastor Jones Boakye contains good material for young inexperienced parents who would no doubt want to know what it contains.

Parents, who God has purposely assigned responsibility of training their ‘seeds’ will find it useful in the life of the family or even before they raise a family. The book does not only draw attention to the responsibility God has given parents on raising children; but more importantly to fathers as spiritual heads of families. Failure on the part of fathers to play this role satisfactorily leaves the ‘seeds’ vulnerable-they became prey to the evil one. Ideas expressed(in chapter 10) on time management in the context of training the youth is very useful in the era where parents have lost their touch of time with the growing youth. The lessons from the seven quotations in the same chapter must engage the attention of all prospective parents. The ‘rod’ and other types of discipline must be carefully noted and applied.

Single parents must use it as a companion. I strongly recommend this special edition to all parents-young and old.

I have been working with pre-school children (ages 1 ½ to 6years), for the past fourteen years. I have also worked with children of ages 8 to 12 for five (5) years.

In my interaction with them, I have noticed a remarkable difference between children who are being raised in the fear of the Lord and those who are not. This book is a mustread for all. It is a wake-up call to all parents to live up to their responsibilities. The future of our nation is dependent on how well we bring up our children.

You have made the right choice by using this book "Parenting: raising Godly seeds."

With accelerated rate of modern civilization and productivity, the desires for profit and wealth have been the major pre-occupation of society. The importance of human resource development is often over looked. Where attempts have been made to factor in the human element, roles to be played by parents to bring up children to become responsible adults are usually not taken into consideration. In recent
