Rob widened his stance and put his hands on his hips. Let’s set a couple of ground rules. Keep the cat out of my seat.

And your intimates need to stay in your room.

What?

Your panties and bras. I don’t want them cluttering up my bathroom.

Oh, my goodness. Rob had just mentioned her panties and bras. Katie’s heart began to thump against her chest as her entire body broke out in a sweat. Only her book boyfriends had ever stirred her senses that way.

Katie Stone slid the gearshift of her VW Bug into park and surveyed Rob Woodson’s home. The place was a white, single-story small house in a decent subdivision if someone could call being in the middle of the city a suitable place to live.

After unfastening her safety belt, Katie scooted out of her seat and stood on the gravel driveway.

Katie? A man’s voice called out.

Yes? She turned to look at the front porch and forced her mouth not to drop. Holy cow. Rob Woodson was a whole lot of man. He was full of muscles and adorned with tattoos.

Katie, nice to meet you. Rob crossed his arms over his broad chest. The muscles under his tight t-shirt rippled as he moved, and the denim of his jeans stretched across his thighs.

I’m so sorry to impose. Katie shivered and pulled her pink cardigan closer against her body. What in the world am I doing? This is crazy. Take a deep breath. It’s not like I have a choice. Her apartment building had caught fire the night before. Everyone was evacuated for at least two weeks during renovations.

No problem. I owed Brandon one anyway. Rob uncrossed his arms, stepped off the porch, and walked to her vehicle.

Katie’s half-brother, Brandon, had been friends with Rob growing up. She hadn’t spent much time with her dad during her school years, so she’d never met Rob. She’d lived with her mother in the country the rest of the time.
