Rob widened his stance and put his hands on his hips. Let’s set a couple of ground rules. Keep the cat out of my seat.

If he was going to keep his distance from her, the last thing Rob needed was the visual image of Katie’s body inside whatever delectable panty and bra set that she wore under her conservative clothes. His breath caught in his throat as his eyes skated over her body. Damn it.

Rob Woodson watched as the yellow VW Bug pulled into the driveway of his white, single-story house. His place was in a decent subdivision on the edge of the city. Also parked in his driveway were a large Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a full-sized Ford pick-up. 

The dark-haired woman unfastened her safety belt and scooted out of her seat to stand on the gravel driveway. After taking in her ponytail and pink cardigan, Rob closed his eyes. She screamed good girl that needed a walk on the wild side.

I’m so sorry to impose. Katie pulled her sweater closer against her body. 

What in the world was he going to do with her? Her apartment building had caught fire the night before. Everyone had been evacuated for at least two weeks during renovations. 

No problem. I owed Brandon one anyway. Rob uncrossed his arms, stepped off the porch, and walked to her vehicle.

Katie’s half-brother, Brandon, had been his friend while growing up. She hadn’t spent much time with her dad during her school years, so he had never met Katie.
