    Chapter 1

The Diamond Line left the dock on day one, and the girls left the upper deck. They took a stroll around this vessel to check out all that was offered on this magnificent vessel. They walked until they saw an enormous pool. People are swimming and hanging out in it. There were lots of kids laughing and playing. Some people were hanging out, already having drinks and getting cozy.

The girls continued to walk around the boat. Then, finally, they ventured upstairs to find several restaurants, bars, a casino, and even two nightclubs. Cashmere looked at the others and said: It’s about to be on tonight in this piece! Tammy looked at Cashmere, smiled, and said, I know that’s right, girl! "I can’t believe we are finally here. We’ve waited so long for this moment" Stephanie said.

They walked by the ship’s bridge and saw the Captain at the helm. He nodded at them, and they smiled back. Cashmere’s phone notified her of a message. She checked her messages and saw something that made her curious. It was from IngridI don’t mean to bother you, but call me when you get a chance. The first thing that came to Cashmere’s mind was that something was wrong with her little sister. Cashmere wanted to text or call her but was too scared to do so. She feared the worst. She showed the phone to StephanieThey both had concerned looks on their faces. Finally, Stephanie told Cashmere, You need to contact her right now and see what is going on. I know, but there is something eerie about her text. I am almost certain it is awful news. Cashmere said: You will never know if you don’t get in touch with her. If it is awful news, don’t you think you should know sooner rather than later? Chimed Stephanie. The bottom line was that Cashmere knew she needed to contact her. She was just worried about what Ingrid’s response would be. Stephanie’s face showed much frustrationCall her now, Cashmere!

Cashmere pulled up the text, read it once more, and pressed the phone button. The phone dialed, and Ingrid answered almost as instantly as the phone rang. Cashmere… Ingrid stated. Cashmere… she stated again. Hey girl, how are you? Cashmere said. Well, to be honest, things could be better. What do you mean, Ingrid? What’s going on? Well, I am in the hospital. "Hospitalwhat’s wrong, Ingrid. I am in labor, and it doesn’t look good. Ingrid, what are you talking about? Cashmere, the baby is a breach, and it is premature. It’s coming tonight, and the chances of survival are very slim. Oh no, Ingrid. I am so sorry to hear that." Cashmere could hear the crack in Ingrid’s voice. She knew she was about to cry. She knew she was about to lose it. All Cashmere could think was, I need to be there with my sister.

Cashmere ran back to the helm where she had last seen the Captain. When she got there, he was no longer in sight. She frantically knocked on the window. One of the crew members looked her way. She didn’t hesitate to gesture for him to come to her. He walked over to the door, opened it, and said: May I help you? She answered before he could even get the last word out. I need to get off of this ship. My sister is in labor, and things don’t look well for the baby! Ma’am, we are out at sea. I am not sure what I can do for you. Call your Captain; I don’t have time to waste. I need to get to Virginia as soon as possible. "Ma’amI will try to help you, but I’m not sure I can! LookI will not repeat this! Call your damn Captain! Get him up here right now! What is going on here? She turned around and saw the Captain standing right behind her. CaptainI have a serious situation, and I desperately need your help. HendersonCaptain Henderson at your service. Cashmere told the Captain of her sister’s situation. He immediately commanded one of his crew members to contact the Coast Guard for a helicopter. Ma’am, we normally don’t do this thing, but my daughter just had a child, so I can understand what you are going through. We were on pins and needles ourselves. Cashmere looked out the window to see her girls outside. Could you please let them in? They are with me. She said, Well, we do not allow people in here unless they are part of the crew. Please tell me your name and stateroom. I will have one of my crew members come and get you a few minutes before the helicopter arrives. My name is Cashmere, and I am in stateroom 323. Okay, Ms. Cashmere, we will have someone contact you as soon as the helicopter is close. I ask that you remain in your stateroom until the helicopter arrives. That way, we are certain to get you off the ship ASAP! Captain Henderson, thank you so very much! I truly appreciate this. Cashmere turned and walked towards her girls. Captain Henderson admired her dedication to her sister. When Cashmere closed the helm door, her girls bombarded her with questions. They wanted to ensure she was okay and could go home. She quickly let them know that Captain Henderson was more than helpful and said he would send someone to get her when the helicopter was near. Then it dawned on all that Cashmere would not be experiencing the great vacation they had all planned. The important thing was making sure that Ingrid and the baby were okay. The girls walked towards the elevator; once they got there, Cashmere pushed the third floor button. Stephanie looked over at Cashmere and said, Girl, everything will be okay. You will see once you get there. Her girls gave her a hug to show their support. We got you! Tammy said. I know. I love you guys so much. This is my baby sister. If something happens to her baby, it will be rough on her! No, Cashmere, Ingrid is our baby sister too. If something happens to her, it will be rough on all of us!" stated Stephanie. Tears welled up in Cashmere’s eyes. At this point, she remembered how close she and Stephanie were, despite all they had been through recently. Stephanie had always been a wonderful friend to her. That was probably what made her want to kiss her. If she would venture into a relationship with a woman, she knew Stephanie would be the one for her. When they exited the elevator, it was a short walk to her room. The girls came in; Tammy poured wine to ease their nerves. She knew Cashmere needed to relax and not think about Ingrid so much. She would have plenty of time to think about Ingrid and the baby when she arrived in Virginia. That would be the only thing she would have time to think about. No matter how many positive thoughts Stephanie tried to have, something told her there was more to this than what was being said. Maybe more than Cashmere knew about. Since she couldn’t confirm that, all she could do was wait and pray for the best! The only thing any of them could do now was to leave it in GOD’s hands.

    Chapter 2

Unfortunately, the vacation they had been planning started with a twist. No one knew what was going on with Cashmere. She had left a few hours ago. Captain Henderson said he would let them know when the helicopter had arrived. They hadn’t heard from him at all. They figured she hadn’t landed yet. Tammy thought, at the least, she would have called them to let them know how things were going. She didn’t want to worry Cashmere more, so she kept her thoughts to herself.

Finally, Tammy’s phone chirped. She rushed to it to see Cashmere’s text to her. When she saw the text, she smiled. It wasn’t Cashmere; it was Rico texting to ensure she was okay. She couldn’t hold her smile back. Her smile grew wider and wider. Stephanie noticed and said, Girl, who is texting you? Never mind, it must be Rico! Yes, it is my baby. He texts to check on me. He says hello to everyone." Tammy begins to text Rico about Cashmere and Ingrid. She tells him all about the baby.

Babe, do you need me to do anything? Do you want me to go to the hospital and keep her company until Cashmere arrives? Before answering, Tammy thought about what he had just asked. He knew Ingrid, but she didn’t think he knew her well enough to make that offer. His offer seemed as if he knew her more than she thought he knew her. As if he knew her more than Tammy knew about. Rico had been good to her. She hadn’t had a reason to doubt him. More than likely, she still didn’t have a reason to doubt him. Something just didn’t seem right to her about this. She didn’t want to start an argument, so she kept her thoughts to herself. Finally, Tammy replied to Rico, No, baby, that is fine. I am sure that someone is there with her. If not, Cashmere will be there soon. Thank you for offering, though. That is so sweet of you, baby! She threw that last part in to ensure he wasn’t worried about her answer. Since she had taken a few minutes to respond.

Rico wondered if she was a little jealous about his text. He didn’t let on that it was of any concern to him. Okay, baby. Keep me posted, though. Their text fell silent for a few moments, and then Tammy finally sent her reply, Okay, baby, I will. As quick as their text had started, they ended even quicker. There wasn’t any I love you, or I miss you, like usual. Tammy knew that something wasn’t right. She also knew that he knew that something wasn’t right. Until now, things had been great between them. Now, something loomed over the top of their relationship.

Rico looked at her last few texts and knew something wasn’t right with her. He wondered what she was thinking. Could this be something that would rock their relationship? Was there something happening on the ship she wasn’t telling him about? His mind wandered to the worst that could happen. Has she met someone else already? Was their relationship too weak to withstand this time apart? His mind roamed to places he didn’t want it to venture towards. He then put his thoughts aside. Knowing what he had in Tammy, he would cross that bridge when he had to. Deep down inside, he hoped it would never happen. He took a drive to ease his mind. He ended up at The Crib. R.J. was there doing inventory for their weekly order. Rico poured himself an ice cold beer and helped R.J. As much as he tried, he couldn’t get his mind off Tammy. He knew something concerned her about Ingrid, but he couldn’t help but wonder if his offer struck her the wrong way. He wanted to call her and talk to her about it, but he wasn’t sure if it was wise.

Tammy was thinking about what he had said, too. She kept wondering if there was something more. Finally, she decided she would try to put it out of her mind until something more became of it. Stephanie said, Girl, let’s get out of this room and see what’s happening on the ship. Those were the words that Tammy needed to hear. So they both set out to see what was going on. Stephanie decided she needed something to eat, so they went to one restaurant to grab a bite. While eating, Stephanie could see that Tammy had something on her mind. She told Tammy, Look, either call him and find out what is going on or deal with this after the trip. We will not enjoy our vacation until you get past this or handle it. One or the other, but please decide. I know it is probably nothing. I am probably overthinking it. You know, you have always had a tough time picking the right men. Maybe that is bothering you. Rico is a good man! Sometimes he seems too good to be true, but that is not a reason to doubt him. Stephanie said. Girl, I know, you may be right. Deep down, I sincerely hope you are. I am truly in love with him. I really think he is the one!

Tammy’s phone chirped againshe picked it up, hoping it was Rico again. But instead, it was Cashmere, saying she had made it to the hospital. She was with Ingrid, and things weren’t going so well. The doctor was trying to stop the labor, but if they couldn’t, they would have to do a c-section. The chances of the baby surviving were dismal. Tammy let Stephanie read the text; tears overcame both of them. This was indeed a sad occasion. If Ingrid lost the baby, it would be hard for them to overcome this. They were all like family. Ingrid was like their little sister.

Surprised by Ingrid’s pregnancy in the first place, they had grown accustomed to the thought of being aunts to her baby. They had already planned a baby shower when they returned. Just when it seemed everything was going well for them. This had to happen. She replied to Cashmere’s text, letting her know they would keep them in their prayers and they wished for the best. Her words seemed as if they weren’t enough for this, but it was all she could muster for now. Anything more, and she would probably cry. She knew tears would eventually come, but she wasn’t ready for them now. She needed to concentrate on making this trip the best it could be. Just her and Stephanie were left, so they had to make the best of it.

The sun had set on the ocean, and the stars were more visible. There was a nice ocean breeze flowing throughout the ship. Stephanie and Tammy had returned to the room to get ready to go to Flawless, one of the ship’s nite clubs. When they arrived at the club, it was very crowded. There is a table in the far left corner of the stage. They sat down, and a waiter came over and said, Tammy and Stephanie, I presume. They both looked at him with a look of uncertainty. Yes, Stephanie answered. I am Trent, the head waiter here on the Diamond Line. Trent, how did you know who we were? Tammy asked. Sorry, I should have stated that before. We got a call from Rico; he stated that there was someone special to him on this cruise and that we should make sure they want for nothing, so he asked us to bill him for all your drinks for the entire cruise. He also asked us to ensure you had the best tables in all the nightclubs and restaurants. Stephanie looked at Tammy, and they both smiled. Trent waved to one of the crew members; he brought over a vase filled with a dozen red roses. Another waiter came to the table with a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries and a giant bottle of Moscato. Rico said we should start the evening off with these treats. I hope everything is in order. Please enjoy; we will be back shortly to see if there is anything else that you require.

Trent stated. Thank you so much! Tammy said. Oh, don’t thank me. Thank Rico! He made this happen. One of you must be special to him. I would say one of you is very lucky to have someone go out of their way like this for you! Trent stated. He smiled and walked away. Stephanie looked at Tammy and said, Damn, girl, that man loves the ground you walk on. You are lucky to have someone to care that much for you! Yeah, I guess I am. This is more than nice of him. He is fantastic! I would say so. Stephanie agreed. Tammy looked at the flowers and noticed a card. When she read the card, her eyes teared up. The card read: Tammy, I am missing you; more than one man could miss anyone! I hope these roses bring a smile to your face. I yearn to see your smile again, with eternal love, Rico! With that, Tammy poured her and Stephanie a glass of Moscato.

    Chapter 3

It was three in the morning in Italy, and Char was just returning to her hotel room after a long day of posing for her photoshoot. She arrived in Italy two days ago. It was right around the time that her girls were about to set sail. Char wanted to be there with them, but work seemed to be never-ending these days. She had never been to Italy before, so she didn’t want to miss out on this either. Although Italy was everything she had expected, she still missed her girls.

Char took a shower to wash the workday off of her. She poured herself a small glass of wine before she went to bed. As hard as she tried to fall asleep, something was not letting her do so. She tossed and turned until about five am. Finally, she called Tammy to see how things were going.

Char… Hey girl, how is the trip going?

    Tammy… it could be better.

    Char… Why? What happened?

Tammy… Have you talked to Cashmere at all?

    Char… No, I haven’t. What’s going on, Tammy?

Tammy… Ingrid is in the hospital. She’s in labor, and the baby is not doing so well.

Char… Oh no, Tammy. Where is Cashmere? May I speak to her?

Tammy… Cashmere is back in Virginia. She went to be with Ingrid to make sure she was okay.

Char… This is crazy. I thought Ingrid was doing well. How did this happen?

Tammy… Apparently, they found out the baby was breech, and then suddenly, she went into labor.

Char… There are plenty of babies that have been born breech. There must be something more that she isn’t saying.

Tammy… You may be right. Cashmere will find out, though. I will call you when I know more.

    Char…
