Chapter 1: Door to Another World

Niko could not believe his eyes! The whirling portal of rainbow colours splashed and flashed out as more of the little creatures began emerging from the opening. Niko grabbed his mum’s hand tightly, as they both looked on in fear as the invasion began.

PEW! PEW! PEW!

The sounds bounced around the room along with the sound of wires burning.

SIZZZZZZZLE! The wires sounded like bacon cooking in a frying pan.

PEW! PEW! PEW!

More lightning beams shot from the portal, bouncing off the walls, through the air and into Bob.

He started to grow bigger and bigger, no longer the cute and fluffy form Niko knew, he began to change into something terrifying.

Mom, I’m scared, Niko whimpers, his mum clutching his hand and giving it a squeeze to reassure him.

When Niko looks up into her eyes, he sees she is just as scared as he is, then he feels a gentle tug on his other hand. It’s the scientist behind him, who leans into Niko. His beard tickles the side of Niko’s cheek and he tries not to giggle.

"Listen to me, we can’t let any more of those things come through, he urges, See that pack sticking out the side of machine?" he whispers.

Niko looks at the side of the circular structure and sees the lever, and beneath it the small box with a flashing green light.
