About this ebook

After becoming saved at the age of 35, Elijah Gregory realized that when God comes into your
life, he brings a great change. Gregory writes his first book to share the wisdom and experience he has gained since becoming a man of God and now, a Pastor. After pastoring for 13 years, he has a lot to share about families living in Christ, men upholding their spiritual position as leaders in the home and Church, and church officials upholding their roles respectfully, remembering that the Holy Spirit is the head of all things. As this work is laced with Bible scriptures, Gregory uses them to share God’s word from the lens of his own experience.

    A Call to Change

Jesus said to Nicodemus, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (New King James Version (NKJV). John 3.3). It took me some time to learn what Jesus was talking about. Some people thought he was talking about entering into their mother’s womb again when that is impossible to do. To be born again is to give your life to Christ, confess your sins, repent and ask God to change your life for forever.

I realized that when God comes into your life, he brings a great change— a new look, a great spirit and a changed the heart. That’s what is so great about serving a perfect God, a powerful God, and a God who will bless you again and again.

In John 1, Saint John talked about the word and the word was with God. There’s no way anyone can avoid Jesus because you have to come through him to get to the Father God, and you have to go through him to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

I was raised in South Carolina in a home with my grandmother and seventeen cousins, sisters, and brothers. We loved one another, helped one another, and never went hungry.

If you were raised in South Carolina during the 1960s, you know how it was at that time. During that difficult time, we did not have money to spend and we wore the same clothes to school every other day. Our shoes came to part from time to time, but I want you to know that we had a praying grandmother. We never went hungry and we never went naked because God showed his love upon us and gave us favor and blessings. That is why I love God so much because he is there all the time.

I went to Sunday school, church service, and would work in the church. I did not give my life to Christ at that time, that was my beginning in serving God.

    CHAPTER 2

God is waiting on his people to give up their old ways and come to him and he will show you the way to eternal life.

When I moved to Savannah, Georgia that’s when I gave my life to Christ and I was filled with the Holy Spirit. One Saturday our church was having a baptism. I sat there for a minute before asking the person next to me what they were doing because there were a lot of people dressed in white. She said they were having a baptism.

I was wearing a suit. I got up and I took my coat off, and I gave it and my wallet to that lady sitting next to me. I went to the Pastor and he baptized me in my sweatpants on, and in that very minute God filled me with the Holy Spirit. He gave me the power to preach, pray, pastor, and pray for those that are sick. God changed my life and I never looked back and never stopped serving him, and loving him. I continue on doing what he called me to do because my God, in the name of Jesus, just
