I walk down the steps in the dark and find my way into the living room. Then, I lie down on our giant couch—my feet body hardly taking up even half of its length. 
Then, suddenly, I hear something coming from the front door.
Already high on adrenaline, I quickly slip my clothes back on and get to my feet. 
I know that I should call for my husband to come downstairs, but for some reason, I don't think he would be helpful at this moment. 
I grab my husband's baseball bat out of a nearby closet and walk towards the front door. As I get closer, I think that I can hear someone, and I know that it's incredibly stupid for me to be approaching him or her by myself, but I do it anyway. I just want to handle this myself. I'm not afraid. 
And, just as I think I can see the image of a big, hulking man in the shadows, the shadowy figure lunges at me!
