    Deadly Obsession - Shay Price

    CHAPTER ONE

Devon sat at the bar nursing his Tequila Sunrise and seriously thinking about going home. The mixture of throbbing lights, pounding bass, and smoky air was bringing on a headache. This was not as much fun as he'd thought it would be when he shelled out a hundred bucks for a fake ID.

I hate to see a good looking guy drink alone. He twisted in his seat and found himself gazing into the greenest eyes he'd ever seen. Perfectly pink lips curved into a smile. Can I sit? She indicated the empty seat beside him.

Uh, yeah. Sure. God, she was dazzling and all he could do was grunt at her like a caveman. The moment she sat down he could actually feel the heat coming off her body they were so close.

Cassandra. She offered him a slender hand tipped with perfectly manicured nails.

Devon. The touch of her smooth skin, brief as it was, sent a chill through him. He hadn't come to the club to cruise, just to get out of the house for awhile. But this woman was surely giving him second thoughts about calling it a night.

Nice to meet you. She signaled for the bartender. I don't think I've seen you here before.

It's my first time, he said. I don't usually come to these kinds of places. The bartender had arrived.

    What can I get you?

    Martini.

Coming right up. He fixed up her drink, then moved on to the next patron.

So, she sipped her drink, if you don't usually come to the club, why are you here tonight?

He stared into yellow-orange mixture in his glass. To be honest, I was feeling a little ... stifled at home.

Parents giving you a hard time?

What? Devon jumped a little in surprise, knocking his hand into his drink and tipping it to the side. Cassandra caught it before it could spill. She laughed.

Come on, be honest. You are not twenty one. Y-yes, I am. I have an ID and everything. He cringed at the ridiculousness of the words.

It's okay. She leaned in close to him. So close he could almost taste the floral scent of her perfume on his tongue. It filled up his head like no drink ever had. I'm only nineteen myself.

Really? I thought you were about twenty-five. Heat flooded up the back of his neck. No, I, uh... I didn't mean...

Cassandra laughed again. The sound was like tinkling bells. I'm not insulted. I worked very hard to look older tonight. She sat up straight and picked up her drink. I told you my age. Now it's your turn.

Devon looked for the bartender and saw he was much too far away to hear them over the noise. Eighteen. Tonight is the first time I used my fake ID.

So it's a night of firsts for you, is it? Something about the way she said that sent the heat in the back of his neck spreading through his body. He took a quick swallow of his drink. This girl was way out of his league. He shouldn't be sitting here talking to her anyway. He should be getting up and going home where he belonged. She trailed one finger down his arm.

How about we grab a booth? A ... a booth? He cleared his throat. I don't know. I should really be going.

So soon? She worked those oh so kissable lips into the most appealing pout. What's the matter? I'm not good company?

It ... No, you're good company. Great company. But I'm-

Come on. She stood, taking hold of his hand. Come sit with me. I won't take no for an answer.

Devon was still protesting even as she led him to one of the dark booths along the walls. Soft sounds of people doing much more than talking reached his ears as he slid in beside her.

See? This is so much nicer, don't you think? She laid her hand on his arm and smiled. More private. Her other hand rested on his thigh.

Yeah. Sure. Devon finished his drink in two long gulps. His brain was telling him to leave right now before things went too far. He'd toyed with the idea of cheating before, but no one had ever made him seriously consider it. Until now.

Cassandra snuggled in close to him, her breasts pressing against his arm. You seem a little nervous, she breathed into his ear.

We just met. Devon sat his glass on the table. This is going kind of fast, don't you think?

It's only a little fun. Her fingers brushed his crotch. I'm not asking you to pledge your undying love.

Tingles ran up the middle of his spine. You do this kind of thing a lot?

Sure. Cassandra kissed the side of his neck. Loosen up. I don't bite. Unless you want me to. She popped the button on his jeans. If you don't want to play, now is the time to speak up.

Devon turned his head and looked
