    About The Author

I’m Milly and I’m sharing my story of an incredible adventure that happened to me about a week ago.

    Wednesday, 29th August

It was a normal day. I walked Coco, my dog, and I did my daily chores–like taking out the trash and doing my homework–but mostly, I was on my phone. My parents say I’m addicted to my phone, but that’s not true. Anyway, to the point: my dad asked me to go to the grocery store to buy food.

‘Do I have to?’ I asked.

    ‘Yes. You. Do.’

    ‘Okay, okay–where’s the list?’

‘On your phone!’ my dad yelled.

Jeez! My dad doesn’t usually yell like that. Calm down, Dad!

My dad’s yelling didn’t surprise me; the list did. It had more than twenty food items on it. Half of which I hadn’t ever heard of or even had, things like pizza casserole seasoning and guacamole meat. My dad gave me this look he’s given me since I was a young child whenever I misbehaved, and it always scares me. He gives me this IF-YOU-DON’T-THESE-EYES-WILL-HAUNT-YOU look. (It’s terrifying, NO joke.)

I didn’t even say a word. I just left. Then I realized that HE FORGOT TO GIVE ME MONEY, and I HAD TO USE MY OWN!

My dad doesn’t care when I come home, so I decided to go to the mall to get some clothes because I basically don’t have any. Little did I know, something was coming my way. I was on my phone, unaware of my surroundings, when I bumped into someone. I didn’t know what to do or say, so I just looked up.

    It was me!

I rubbed my eyes. Was that a mirror? Did I have a long-lost twin? Have my parents been lying? Could I trust them? All of these thoughts went through my head.

I knew I had to do something, so I stood up and said, ‘Hi, what’s your name?’

    ‘Lily. What about you?’

    ‘You’re Lily? I’m Milly!’

We started talking and were just exchanging numbers when my dad called me. Then I remembered the food, so I crossed the road and bought all the food, which took about thirty minutes. Sadly, I didn’t buy anything from the mall.

When I got home, my dad was waiting for me with that look again.

I dropped the groceries and dashed up to my room. The only thing I could think about was my lookalike or maybe even my twin. I knew I had to text her or do something, so I asked Lily if we could meet up and get to know each other more. I was surprised because she answered the second I sent the text. No one else I know does that. My parents take about a week to respond. If I ask if I can go to a friend’s house or something, they take a week, and when they respond, they say ‘NO!’ (My parents are very STRICT!)

To the point, we agreed to meet up at the Honey Restaurant on Friday. I was so excited, but later, my smile turned upside down.

    Knock-knock.

It was my dad. He came in without waiting for me to even say anything. (What was the point of knocking?) ‘What do you want for dinner?’

    ‘Pasta, please.’

‘Does it look like I can cook?’

‘I guess I’ll make it.’ Just so
