She was court retained

And ordered to take Lithium

After her manic madness

Had set the hospital aflame

She tore up the papers

Then ran to the phone

Calling the hospital director

Shortly after her peer

Took up the cause

And in a kamikaze attack

Came charging at me

Fists and invectives flying

Amazed by my defensive finesse

I slipped and slid and moved

Up and out of Bedlam

Tapping away the trauma

All the way to Vermont

All Of Us

It wasn’t just the solo gunman

Who slayed twenty children yesterday

But all of us

Who protected

His Second Amendment rights

To arm himself like a terrorist

And explode his psychotic fantasies

In a schoolhouse in Connecticut
