About this ebook
Written over a period of six years, branching between adolescence and adulthood, An Ocean of Wine is a collection of modern young adult poetry with over 200 poems split into four chapters covering contemporary sentiments on relationships, grief, loss, sex, love, body image, relationships and self-healing. It is everything individuals of the new generation wanted to say but didn't; everything we want to feel and everything we wish we didn't have to feel.

Crying
I dulled the incessant pounding
Of your name in my head
By carving it into my pillowy flesh
With the piercing shards
Of the heart you left me with
I had a heart like a box
Filled with fireworks
You had hands
That played thoughtlessly
With matches
Tell me we weren’t
Just friends
Tell me the city of roses
You got me so blissfully lost in
Wasn’t just a graveyard
Disguised as a garden
Tell me
Even if it was just for a moment
In its smallest measurement
That you cared
I’m the girl
Who lets others eat from her garden
But quietly starves herself to death
The girl
Who is drowning in her own issues
Yet stops and saves
The drowning man beside her
She tells me her secrets
Her wildest dreams
Her passions and gifts
Dancing and cloud watching
Then abruptly stops
And tells me she’s sorry
She said anything at all
Our bodies
Are too young
To be the hosts
Of such withered
Jaded
Monochromatic
Minds
I still can’t find it in me
To go back
And reread my old chapters
Without wanting to rip
Every single soiled page to pieces
And feed them to the flames
Hungrily lapping in the fireplace
Our toes lightly touched
And the waves in the sheets rolled
Showing we were alive
Only you knew we would die
Because you couldn’t keep
Waking each morning
And dressing yourself in lies
If our stars
Ever cross once more
I hope we’re
Not too proud
To admit that we made a
Mistake
When we both walked
The other way
I’m scared of getting lost
Because I’m scared
You won’t try to find me.
You’ll let me roam too far
Into such thick, wild labyrinths
And you won’t run
