    The process of weaning involves introducing solid foods to infants who were only dependent on milk.

    The first bite of food and the last breastmilk or formula milk feeding mark the beginning and end of it, respectively.

    To create a healthy eating routine and reduce picky eating, it's important to consider when and how solid foods should be introduced.

    When Can Babies Start Eating Solid Food?

    The majority of medical professionals advise parents to start their infants on solid food at around 4-6 months of age.

    Six months is frequently advised because infants at this age start to require supplementary nutrients, like iron and zinc, that are not present in milk.

    These nutrients can be obtained in small quantities from solid food.

    Additionally, experts advise watching for indicators that a baby is prepared for solids developmentally. These include:

    Sitting up straight

    Excellent head control

    Able to chew food and keep it in their mouth

    Able to grab food and place it in their mouth

    Is curious and eager to participate during meals.

    Rarely do infants reach the 4-6 months mark before being ready for solid foods.

    Ask your pediatrician for assistance if you believe your infant is displaying symptoms that they are ready to take solids but they have not reached the age of six months.

    Traditional (Old-School) vs. Baby-Led Approach

    There are two primary methods of weaning, known as traditional and baby-led.
