Jaded in My Jade
In my day, I’ve had the great fortune to be an ornament on many a well cuff-linked arm.
Due to my good fortune I have been kept from harm.
I have gained wisdom into the inner workings of so-ci-ety…
from Boston, to New York, to Mi-am-i…
However, this wisdom has not spared me being miserable,
I fear…I have become a rather jaded individual…
You see, I fell in love with a musician named Danny,
who really broke my heart, and it knocked me on my fanny.
And after he dumped me he sent me a jade, stone, ring…that looked rather smart…
(Everyone says Ahhhhh") but it didn’t take away the sting…
He told me it reminded him of my beautiful green…eyes…
He said he’d remember all the good times,
and he said who would ever get me, would be a very lucky guy…
(Chorus)
So I was alone quiet and weary, beholden to none,
I tried to be cheery, and get something done…
but I was jaded in my jade…I became… jaded in that jade…
masqueraded by his parade…wore that ring on my neck on a chain…
swore to God I’d see him again…
(Music Break)
I promised myself ten years back I’d never let him get me…
No kissing on the first date, no chasing him away,
I tried to understand all the times he strayed…
Never begged him to come back after all the times he went away…
Didn’t know, all I was, was just a clown in his parade…
I guess my standards were low, and my visions high.
Guess I look like one of those people who they’d just like to try…
Naïve enough not to know that most men are just ramblin’ Joe’s…
Never sold my soul, my body’s been loved for free…
God knows I’ve had some fun… in spite of me…
(Chorus) But I was jaded in that Jade…
I became… jaded in that jade…masqueraded by his parade…
Wore that ring on my neck on a chain… swore to God I’d see him again…
And then one night,
