About this ebook

In a world where stories are sometimes told by the famous, infamous, or those who are controversial, Lisamarie Chorowiec tells the story of every woman through characters that are relatable, beautiful, comical, and above all, genuine.

Michele is just one woman of millions who holds her own story inside. As she drives through her city and quietly assesses the dirt, the loud sirens, and the imperfections, Michele realizes that she finds comfort and beauty in all of it. As Sandy reflects on her childhood, she learns that even though she was scared back then, today’s fears are more realistic. Anya loves the repetitiveness of her makeup routine—a daily ritual that, in its own strange way, provides her reassurance that she always looks her best. Gypsy will never forget the love that grew under a dim streetlight as a kiss stole her heart forever. Gina hates the questions and forced pleasantries that plague her during the day. Only at night, she feels free.

Tragic Magic is a collection of moving short stories that gently remind women that we all deserve to be seen, no matter what our struggles or joys.

    Reasons Why;

    We are Women, before it was a thing to fight for, bleed for, struggle for we have been Women, holding inside a million stories and countless moments. With brightest light comes the deepest dark, the dichotomy of all of us. Male and female alike. Women feel more and more-so express those feelings more than any man. Hopeful and defeated we carry these thoughts, memories and fables inside ourselves and somehow like the roots of a tree burst into the air above and become what we were longing too become down in that deep darkness.

    Here are some tales I have conjured and been inspired to write, both Tragic and Magic. They are both beautiful and grotesque because we are both, sometimes one more than the other but always both

    As I drive through the city, sometimes I look around. I see people who look lost, with hollow smiles on their faces, like little kids begging for candy. They’re all trying to be individuals to be something real. So they stop in the shop, and they remember the name because later they will tell it to a friend in passing.

    Giving off an air of intellect and superiority was tantamount, creating a trend and increasing that shop’s profit margin. You have to be in it, know the places, wear the shoes, and put on the lipstick. You have to go dancing when all you really want is a movie and a blanket. There’s a car dealership on the highway that never ends. The signs are burned out so now all it says is Turn now. If you’re looking for a sign, you could take that and change your life because of it. Leave your husband, quit your job, eat more ice cream, add to your account. If anyone ever asked you why, you could say, I saw a sign. You wouldn’t be lying.

    People do things for fewer reasons than that. They see a movie or hear a song that
