About this ebook

These days citizens must be politically astute as so many government policies and laws impact their everyday life. Mistrust and dissatisfaction with politicians have become the new normal: Can they be trusted? Do they speak the truth?

This book will help you to decide. It will challenge your thinking and make you more aware of the political landscape; therefore, you are less likely to be fooled or misled.

The Questions and Answers Section gives you the tools to deal with leading questions, biased questions, misleading questions and rhetorical questions. Weaknesses in the question or questioners can also be exploited to give a fitting reply.

Section 2 gives a critical assessment, evaluation, and commentary on recent political events. You may disagree with me, but they will challenge your thinking. There is also a discussion of the X-factor and Simon Cowell.

Those that were lucky enough not to fight any: a win-win situation.

Why aren't voices being raised today to denounce Israel's highly fascist methods against the Palestinians?

    Answer:

    Three main reasons

American support and veto of any resolution against Israel.

The ‘free world’ kowtowing to the USA’s money and power

Islamophobia: look at the immediate aid to Ukraine [deserved] but none given to Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Kashmir etc, etc.

Why does China propose itself as a mediator in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas? What do you think about it?

    Answer:

China wants to be recognized as a superpower like America or even better. Their landing on the moon, Mars and other missions, their new aggressiveness towards Hong Kong, Taiwan and in the South China Sea, etc. points to this. They also want to influence world events and be a big geopolitical player, again like America.

Unfortunately (like America which has always sided with Israel and supports it) they cannot be honest brokers and at the same time torture and imprison the Uyghurs in their own country.

Is China going to war with the West?

    Answer:

    The Chinese Dragon has awoken.

China’s rise as a global and economic power threatens America’s dominance and will probably lead to nuclear war. Taking a leaf from America, China has decided to make up its own rules – and to hell with anyone else. It has threatened Japan with nuclear strikes if it interferes in their disputed territory, Taiwan, which it claims as its own.

Similarly, there is conflict with America, Britain and other nations over the rights to the South China Sea. And, of course, there is Hong Kong.

Such bellicose behaviour goes with the territory – so to speak. The history of colonial empires is being re-enacted in a modern setting, with war being an inevitable consequence. America, losing its grip as top dog number one, is deploying F22 and aircraft carriers in disputed waters. A stand-off between the two rivals is imminent.

It would be wise for European powers not to get involved in these conflicts (which America is encouraging them to do). America’s fight with China is a political one, serving only its self-interest. Remember how it was going to abandon Europe, NATO, WHO as well as abusing its allies? The slogan may not be heard, but it is still America First.

There cannot be two ace predators; let the two contenders fight it out and hope the rest of the world remains safe from any holocaust that will result from two of the worst nations on Earth.

How are the UN veto power rights earned, and for what?

    Answer:

Veto power is not earned but usurped by the most powerful and influential members. It is not surprising that the 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) are all nuclear powers who resist any attempt by other countries to become nuclear powers in order to control them and remain dominant.

The veto power essentially means that no resolution against these members or their allies is possible. It is an abuse of power and must be scrapped. Many conflicts have been allowed to continue because one or other of the Permanent Members has vetoed the resolution despite all other nations being in favour. The 11-day war between Israel and Gaza being such a case, with America blocking any resolution against its favourite, Israel, despite 14 to 1 being in favour.

No member – permanent or otherwise – should have a veto because it gives that member too much power and paralyses any Resolution. Instead, a simple majority (or a two-thirds majority for serious, weighty and contentious issues) should be adopted. Let’s have justice as the criterion and not self-interest.

Why is Israel worried if the position of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is replaced?

    Answer:

Abbas is a stooge, a collaborator. He is 86, lacks any of the charisma of Yasser Arafat. He is not fit to be a leader. For 15 years, he did not hold any elections because he wants to cling on to power. Recently, he deliberately avoided elections in case he lost, and Hamas gained victory. His flimsy excuse that Israeli Arabs could not participate in elections {a tactical move by Netanyahu), so he postponed them, tells us either he is a power-hungry tyrant or he is hand-in-glove with the Israeli Government.

How come Israel broke 65 UN resolutions and nothing significant happened, while Iraq broke two and got invaded?

    Answer:

The problem is America – or rather, the rest of the world accepting America as the leader of the free world, an ideal democracy, the arbitrator and judge, the policeman and guardian of the world.

One only needs to look at its history to see how false this idea is. Remember the massacre and dispossession of the indigenous American Indians, the American Civil War, the slave trade, the Ku Klux Klan, Civil rights marches, Vietnam?

Nothing much has changed since then: The massacre in Tulsa; the many attempted regime changes; the assassination of Qasem Soleimani; the unlawful killing of George Floyd resulting in the Black Lives Matter Movement; and Trump with his white supremacists claiming that the election was stolen from them.

More damagingly, it is the only country to have dropped the atomic bomb – two in fact (one extra gratis), attacked almost every nation that it has considered dangerous, defied U.N. Resolutions, as well as unilaterally breaking the treaty with Iran and others for its own benefit. It makes up its own rules and expects others to obey – or risk attack or sanctions.

America has no moral authority, no honesty or integrity. It has become an out-and-out corrupt nation. A better, more just world order is needed. The European nations should take the lead by displacing and ignoring America.

Instead of aspiring to be as rich as America, one must strive to be just. Only then can we have a more peaceful world.

Is supporting the peaceful coexistence of both Palestinians and Israelis considered being pro-Israeli or pro-Palestinian?

    Answer:

It is neither. You are being fair, compassionate, caring and human. You are wanting peace.

When Jews greet one another, they say SHALOM - PEACE.

Similarly, the Arabs say AS-SALAAM ALYKUM:  may peace be on you.

Both governments should think of their citizens and come to an equitable compromise, especially regarding JERUSALEM – the CITY OF PEACE.

    9.

Should the US threaten Hamas with nuclear strikes unless they completely relinquish power and allow democratic elections in Gaza?

    Answer:

I am amazed at how anyone can think like that, but not surprised that it comes from the mouth of a Jew. You talk so glibly about dropping nuclear bombs, but I suppose once you drop one or two (like America) it becomes easier – as long as it doesn't happen to you.

By the way, any such attack would devastate the whole region, including Israel. You
