The Number 9 - Indigo
Foreword
T
here will be many days where we don’t have a clue as to what we are doing, where we are going, or how we are feeling. I can’t express how deeply I understand confusion, messy emotions, inner conflict, indifference, and so on. While writing The Number Nine
, I was quite confused and angry myself. The number nine, which represents cycles, wisdom, alignment, and completion, didn’t occur to me as a book title initially, but when I learned its meaning and started to see it manifest in my life, I knew it was a divine idea. While this inspired piece started as a journal entry, the search for answers transformed my entry into something greater. Although the answer wasn’t as simple as I would’ve preferred, I found myself instead, through writing about my processes and thoughts.
I live to share and connect with others. I’m no guru, I haven’t been to India or any other spiritual place, I just feel deeply. That's it. I go through life feeling, experiencing, and connecting. I love you all and I really hope you can feel my love through my words.
Anxiety
A
nxiety can get the best of us. As individual as our anxiety may be, one thing I’d like us all to keep in mind is that we’re not alone. Discourage any thoughts of abnormality, defeat, or weakness because every human being feels anxious. It's natural for us to feel that we are the only ones having an experience, but that's our ego speaking, not our higher selves. Our ego can be insidious, creeping into our minds and convincing us of things that have no basis in reality. I can recall many days when I allowed my ego to disrupt my flow or negative thoughts to become reality. Contrary to what we believe, WE are in control. Some of us deal with anxiety in productive ways, but many of us deal with it in maladaptive ways that bring us more harm. Don’t fret, we’ve all been here before. I’m here to inform you that it's never too late for us to reclaim control and make progress. Remember: no matter the size of the step forward, it's still a step.
Activity No. 1: Take a few deep breaths and a moment to write down how you cope with anxiety. If you have an issue recalling your methods or are unsatisfied with them, write down a few methods you’d like to incorporate to cope with anxiety.
The Word(s)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:6–7, NIV
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I
