About this ebook

The future, which the prophetic visions predict, will come as a fascinating surprise to many, a shock to others.

In earlier times, the majority of people believed the universe revolved around our world. Scientific advances have since shown how small our planet is, tucked on the outer fringe of the Milky Way Galaxy, which in itself is but one of multiple galaxies scattered throughout the vastness of space. In comparison, our planet Earth is like a grain of sand on a beach, one planet among billions of planets and stars in the vast expanse of the universe. Who would have thought that ancient prophetic dreams and visions of our future world would give us a clue as to where we fit into this wider picture.

Regardless of whether you are atheist, religious or spiritually minded, the interpretation of the ancient texts that follows will give you pause for thought about your outlook on life as we know it. Many of the ancient prophetic writings are recorded in biblical texts, so we’ve referenced those in detail, showing the accuracy of the prophecies to date, which indicates that the ones relating to our future world will also be accurate. Some have described these works as provocative and controversial. It is not the intension of this writer to challenge traditional belief, simply to present an alternative interpretation of ancient prophecies that point to a fascinating future, albeit one that few would have likely envisioned.

The following material might be considered by some to be provocative and controversial. It is not my intension to antagonize, simply to present an alternative interpretation of the ancient prophecies.

Although I’ve researched and quoted reference material from the World English Bible and also from online lectures, I’ve included my own commentary and sometimes controversial interpretation of the ancient prophecies that is not sanctioned in any way by others.

The referenced quotes are sourced from the World English Bible simply because it is in the Public Domain and readily available online via eBible.org in accordance with the permissions information noted on their webpage as follows:

    Introduction

With our world seemingly spinning out of control, with natural disasters increasing in intensity, financial instability and the threat of war always looming, many wonder what the future might hold. And yet, it seems all these events have been foretold from ancient times and they’re recorded in a source that few would expect.

Many of the visions of prophecy were described in symbolic terms, making it harder to decipher. That’s where people throughout the ages often gave up even trying to interpret the meaning. But in recent times the prophecies have been decoded and the results are quite amazing.

It makes one wonder how much control we have over our own destiny when we see the accuracy of things that were foretold in the past that have subsequently happened throughout the ages … even up to this current time. It appears to have all been preordained. Even as we read these lines, our future seems to be mapped out for us.

If you’re familiar with ancient prophecy, you will likely be shocked at what you’re about to read. If you’re not familiar with these works and have had no prior interest in them, you’ll be amazed at some of the prophecies relating to our future. Either way, be warned, this is a different viewpoint to traditional interpretation.

One of the first terms we’re going to look at is the word Angel. What does Angel mean? In Greek, the meaning of the name Angel is messenger. The word has generally been interpreted as a Being that is not of this Earth, a heavenly Being with extraordinary powers.

Now if we look at the term extraterrestrial, the word strikes fear in many, disbelief in others and sometimes acceptance to a few. The word extraterrestrial simply means something above or beyond this terrestrial plane, often portrayed as having extraordinary or superhuman powers. A simple comparison of the two descriptions shows that the two terms can be interchangeable. Some might argue that extraterrestrials, or the notion of extraterrestrials is unproven, but the same argument could be said about angels.

If we look at earlier civilizations on this planet, which I think we would all agree were primitive in comparison with our modern age, the appearance of other-worldly Beings with extraordinary powers would seem phenomenal. These superhuman Beings coming down from heaven (the sky), would appear as gods, or God’s messengers. To these earlier people, who had no knowledge of such things, these occurrences would appear to be miracles.

Now when we consider ancient prophecy in that light, where angel is interchangeable with extraterrestrial and heaven with sky, we start to get a different picture about what these prophecies are showing. The whole purpose of this exercise is to look at ancient prophecy in a different light, so we’re going to be quoting a lot from the Bible. This is likely to be a double-edged sword, where those not religiously minded might take exception that we’re using this source, while those who are religiously minded might take offense. All I ask is that you persevere and keep an open mind.

    The Rapture Prophecy

The Rapture is a commonly accepted term among various Christian faiths, even though there is no reference to that actual term in the bible. It has been commonly accepted as an interpretation of biblical prophecy, where the faithful are taken up into heaven at the second coming of Christ.

Keeping an open mind, let me say right from the start that the interpretation of the event known as The Rapture will be different here to what has been the generally accepted interpretation of ancient prophecy. Not wishing to shake the faith of believers in the traditional interpretation of these quotes, my intention here is to look at the actual written quotes and interpret them from a different viewpoint. As mentioned above, it’s important to keep an open mind.

Regarding prophecy, there are many prophetic references scattered throughout the ancient texts, although many of the more commonly known ones are from Daniel and Revelation, particularly relating to end time events leading up to the climax known as The Rapture. It’s interesting to note that when Daniel was given his prophetic visions around 600 BC, he was also told to shut up the book until the end times, implying that the eventual opening or interpretation of the book would be an indicator of those prophesied end times.

Daniel 12:4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end. Many will run back and forth, and knowledge will be increased. (WEB)

We’ll get into the likely timing of these prophesied events further on, but even the mention of many will run back and forth, and knowledge will be increased is a good indicator of the likely timing. Comparing people in 600 BC, who got around mainly by foot or by donkey, our modern day intercontinental air travel can transport us to the other side of the world in only a few hours. And knowledge, which previously was limited to a select few, is now open to anyone with a laptop or phone and an internet connection. So the quote many will run back and forth, and knowledge will be increased is certainly relevant to our modern society.

Now, getting back to the Rapture - to start, let’s have a look at a couple of the key phrases that incorporate both past and future events linked to the so-called Rapture.

Jesus is speaking to his disciples …

Acts 1:9 When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. (WEB)

Looking at the above, there are a few things we need to consider.

Firstly a cloud received him out of their sight. Obviously it’s not physically possible for a vaporous cloud to support a person and yet it states the cloud received him. This is not the only reference to clouds in the Bible, particularly with the second coming, so what does this cloud refer to?

If we consider that these observers are witnessing something unfamiliar, how might they describe a white or shiny disk shaped object floating in the sky? If it looks like a cloud, call it a cloud. Also, there are some who believe that spaceships visiting this planet often condense the air around their craft to form a cloud cover to conceal their presence.

Now when we consider biblical prophecy in that light, where angel is interchangeable with extraterrestrial and heaven with sky, we start to get a different picture about what these prophecies are showing.

Acts 1:10-11 While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, 11 who also said, You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky. (WEB)

The word behold means look, implying a sudden appearance. Earlier interpretations of this verse say they were in white apparel, although later variations say they were in white robes, which is possibly assumed because of the traditional dress of those times. However, white apparel doesn’t necessarily mean robes.

It’s interesting to see the above says he was taken up into the sky because earlier versions say he was taken up into heaven. First they say that a cloud received him and then they say he was taken into the sky and he’ll return in like manner. Might the term sky also mean outer space?

Keeping in mind that the Bible states that mankind was made in the image of God, there are some who believe that life on this planet was a genetic experiment of other-worldly Beings who were more technologically advanced than we are currently. Now whether you believe that the creative force commonly referred to as God created Adam the first human, and took a rib from Adam to create a companion, Eve … or whether you interpret this as genetic engineering by a superhuman life-force, it is generally accepted by most that life on this planet was created.

It is also generally accepted that this higher Being has been watching over the creation throughout the ages and has even given hints to what the future might hold through various scriptures, including the Bible, particularly through prophetic visions, such as what was given to Daniel and the Disciple John in Revelation.

Revelation basically refers to the Second Coming as the grand climax of the Bible, culminating in The Rapture. One out of every twenty-five verses in the New Testament is related to the second coming.

The actual timing of The Rapture is not given in the ancient texts, but indicators are given, such as natural disasters increasing like the birth pains of a pregnant woman, but we’ll get into that in more detail at a later stage.

In the first chapter of Revelation we read:

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen. (WEB)

Note that it says here that all tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Earlier interpretations of this verse say all will wail because of him. This is an interesting one. You would think that the millions of Christians who are awaiting the second coming would rejoice, but it says that all will mourn or wail. Why would that be?

Is it perhaps because he’s coming in a way that is unexpected? The majority of the Christian world has an expectation of him appearing in the clouds with his legions of angels from heaven. Just imagine the reaction if the sky is suddenly filled one day with an armada of spaceships amongst the clouds. There would be worldwide panic - and every eye will see him … and all will mourn (or wail).

    But wait – there’s more:

1 Thessalonians 4:17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. (WEB)

H’mmm, does this mean the chosen ones are all going to be floating in the air with the Lord for eternity, or is it perhaps a mass evacuation from a devastated planet? Much of Revelation speaks of cataclysmic events leading up to the second coming. We’ll be covering that in more detail, along with the possible timing, a little later.

    Earlier Visions

So what is the timing of the event that is commonly referred to as The Rapture? To discover that, we need to go back in time.

Around 600 BC the major ruling civilization of those times, Babylon, had invaded Judah (Israel) and they took many Jews captive, including one called Daniel. When in captivity, Daniel’s reputation grew amongst his captives for his ability to interpret dreams. When the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar had a powerful dream that even his own Seers and advisors could not interpret, the king turned to Daniel to decipher.

The amazing thing is, the interpretation of this dream became a prophecy for future generations, stretching from those earlier times through to our modern day. It showed the successive powers that would rule from that time onward.

When the great King Nebuchadnezzar had the prophetic dream, he woke in the morning and realized that he’d dreamed something of great importance. He gathered his seers, astrologers and wise men and asked them to describe the dream he’d had and to give him an interpretation of the dream. When they couldn’t do so, he was enraged and he threatened to put them to death because they were so useless to him.

When the king presented Daniel with the same challenge, Daniel asked the king for some time to reflect – the king granted him a day.

That night, Daniel dreamed of a giant statue of a man with a head of gold, shoulders and chest of silver, thighs of bronze, legs of iron and feet a mixture of iron and clay. As he watched, a large stone came hurtling down and struck the feet, whereupon the whole statue crumbled.

The next morning, when he stood before the king, he described the vision and the king was speechless as Daniel relayed the same details that the king had seen in his own dream, even though the king had not mentioned any of the details previously to him. The great King Nebuchadnezzar was spellbound as Daniel interpreted the dream, relaying a prophecy stretching into the distant future – a vision of kingdoms to come.

In Daniel chapter 2 we read:

Daniel 2:36-45 "This is the dream; and we will tell its interpretation before the king. 37 You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory. 38 Wherever the children of men dwell, he has given the animals of the field and the birds of the sky into your hand, and has made you rule over them all. You are the head of gold.

39 "After you, another kingdom will arise that is inferior to you; and another third kingdom of bronze, which will rule over all the earth. 40 The fourth kingdom will be strong as iron, because iron breaks in pieces and subdues all things; and as iron that crushes all these, it will break in pieces and crush. 41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but there will be in it of the strength of the iron, because you saw the iron mixed with miry clay. 42 As the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong, and partly broken. 43 Whereas you saw the iron mixed with miry clay, they will mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they won’t cling to one another, even as iron does not mix with clay.

44 In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, nor will its sovereignty be left to another people; but it will break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever. 45 Because you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what will happen hereafter. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure. (WEB)

Okay, so from the above we learn that the head of gold represents Babylon, which ruled from 605 BC to 539 BC and the succeeding empires that followed Babylon were represented by the different metals in the statue
