About this ebook
It's also the story of an Italian immigrant who came to the United States in 1974 at the age of 17.
Finally it is the tale of a man supremely fortunate to be enveloped by loving family and friends . As i made my way through the dense forbidden jungle of the disease , I wasn't alone . Others walked with me .
I came to know Mr. C. after a two-year long misdiagnosis that led to my finding out I had Stage Four cancer. From there , I would have two surgeries and 33 radiation treatments . i would suffer with indescribable pain , despair , and the fear of losing home and livelihood.
Along the way there would be Angels and miracles, providing me the strength and courage to walk on . My hope is that this book will offer -as well as a few smiles- to people who learn they have cancer.
Your Feet Walk , Your Mind Travel presents a glimpse of the havoc cancer can wreak on the lives of a patient and his or her loved ones. In my case , the illness threatened 40 years of struggle on the part of two immigrants [ my wife and I] to create and maintain the American dream through our small business.
if the book helps those who have met Mr. C. find the strength to keep their heads high as they get past the initial diagnosis and move through the surgery , pain , treatments and recovery , I will have achieved my goal.
Bruno Di Carlo
Bruno Di Carlo, 67, grew up on a farm in Arielli, Italy, near the edge of the Adriatic Sea. At 17, he came to America with a dream to walk its street of gold. Instead he found Pina -- the love of his life for the past 46 years -- along with three children and four grandchildren. The couple live in Easton Massachusetts. A Week With My Father tells the story of one of Bruno's travels back tp Arielli. it was a trip with a mission. From the time he was a child, he had heard bits and pieces of his family's journey through the 20th century, including a tale of tragedy and escape during World War II. Now, on a visit in 2002, he sought to fill in the gaps of that history. A Week With My Father is an extraordinary work of love, research and imagination.
