The Undying Faith Book 3. A guide to a Life of Success and Happiness - Hebert McQuinn

    Foreword

This book is meant to serve as an aid in understanding of the psychology of self-image and Biblical righteous thinking, creative thinking if you wish. It is about human beings’ relationship with God. In these pages the author attempts to break with the traditional literal interpretation of the contents of the Bible and to offer an analysis of the principles expounded in it in a deeper and broader fashion.

Life is simply a continuous effort to solve a series of problems. Problems cause humans differing levels of stress, depending on their gravity and complexity. When a person is unable to solve a particular problem he/she would generally be regarded as a failure and other humans, for this reason would stop taking him seriously if he keeps failing to solve more and more of his/her problems. He/she will be the subject of gossip, ridicule or pity.

This would in some unfortunate cases, result in the person constantly feeling sorry for and ashamed of him/herself. There is a strong likelihood that he/she might wallow in self-pity and develop a low self-esteem. Sometimes things can get out of hand and the person would give up on ever finding happiness because there would seem to be no way out of the shame of failing at some important things, the shame that would follow him/her like a shadow.

This could in instances have negative consequences like where the person would turn to drugs or alcohol or both in an attempt to escape the shame of having failed at things other people perhaps easily succeed at. Under these circumstances, the person is even likely to become a victim of depression.  In the worst case scenario the person might even go to the extent of actually committing suicide. The shame and self-hate can cut that deep in some instances.

Unfortunately, a human being, the most progressive of God’s creatures, one that the Bible tells was created  inferior only to angels, can be as fragile and vulnerable as all that. That, among other things, I believe brought about the interest in the study of the subject of psychology, in which and by means of which some humans try to find solutions these serious problems that face humanity. Some people want to know the reasons behind behavior such as outlined above and to see if the problem of people being unable to solve their problems can be solved and how this can be done.

I believe that through the contents of this book, help can be sourced to overcome some of these difficulties, posed mainly by a negative self-image. It is my hope that the contents of this book will contribute in no small measure to the understanding of what exactly is required to achieve success in things that matter to us, which success,  as already explained, consists in our ability to solve certain specific problems. Success, stripped to its bare essence, is problem solving.

The content of this book is partly a result of my lived experiences as well as shared insights by some renowned intellectuals whose works of literature I have had the privilege of interacting with in my own quest to find answers to questions life posed to me, when I so wanted to find a sure case formula for success and happiness.

It is the great tribulations and pain, spiritual, mental and emotional that had me reaching out for books on psychology, philosophy, self-help and the like, and little by little the realization dawn upon me that most of those books are about exactly the same thing, and offer strikingly similar solutions to life’s problems, although they were written by different people from different countries, cultures, religions and general walks of life.

I have also, through the medium of this book, decided to add my two cents worth to the huge body of literary work that is already available on topics to do with the human soul for I believe that I have been privileged in being able to amass such a wealth of knowledge on the subject, both from the remarkable individuals, living and deceased, who are and were generous enough to share their knowledge, insights and experiences with the rest of us, and from my lived experiences. Some of these selfless humans have through their works, helped to deepen my understanding of why everything is what it is.

I hope that through the contents of these pages I will be able to reach the reader the way that they have reached me. It is Maya Angelou who once said: Those who learn must teach . Honestly, I can’t think of a statement more profound and relevant. Through the contents of this book, I am trying to share what life has taught me about how to find success and happiness. Without any further ado, let us dive into the sharing and learning.

    Chapter 1

    Understanding the role of Consciousness

Consciousness, by definition , consists in the whole of all that a person is aware of. This concept is responsible for fashioning a person’s life conditions and personal circumstance because it informs the sum total of what he/she knows about the world and how he/she believes that it all affects him/her. To sum it up, a person is and can only be what he/she is conscious of being.

If a person is conscious of being poor, his/her life conditions cannot be those of a wealthy person.  Acceptance of a state of poverty is what creates the poverty and stagnates him/her in it. The mentality of want and lack arises from a person allowing thoughts of want and lack to dominate his/her mind. It is said in the Bible that as we think in our hearts, so we are.

Thoughts are things. That is why we have to be conscious of the type of thoughts we allow to dominate our minds. What you are
