    Vijayan and Kuveni

    Buddhist Sinhalese establish their history with the Mahavamsa book written by the Buddhist monk Mahanama Thera in Pali, mixing truth and falsehood, highlighting the Buddhist religion. According to the Mahavamsa, Sinhabahu was the ruler of Odisha (the Kalinga Region), and Vijayan was the eldest son of Sinhabahu. Sinhabahu received a plea from the citizens of the country alleging that his son Vijayan was carrying out a range of horrific acts against them. In response, Sinhabahu deported his son Vijayan along with seven hundred of his buddies on a ship. After halting at a few different locations, the sailors made it to the island of Ceylon in the end.
