    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to the only Father I have ever known. A Father who has never left my side. A Father who has loved me unconditionally when I have felt so unloving. A Father who has dried my tears whenever I needed Him. A Father who never abandoned me or rejected me. A Father who has held me when I felt alone and scared. A Father who was my protector and my superhero in my eyes. A Father who called me His own and made me in His image. And because of Him, I am whole. Thank You, my Heavenly Father God.

    My Daughter

My daughter came to me in her early twenties and told me God wanted her to write a book, and He gave her the name for that book called Love Letters from Daddy. When she told me, I realized she wasn’t doubting God; she was doubting herself. She said, Mom, I don’t know how to write a book, and then she showed me on a sheet of paper a picture of what she believed He was showing her, but she kept reassuring me she did not know how to write a book. But I remember sharing with her; I said, Tonya, if He gave it to you, He will do it for you and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. She tucked away the idea of writing a book, and we did not talk about it for some time.

After sometime later, we went to a church service where they had a guest speaker from out of town, and as Tonya and I were listening to the minister, he called Tonya’s name and began to speak over her life. At the time, my daughter had been through so much pain, rejection, and heartache. My daughter was a very hurt young woman, but that night the man of God began to prophesy to her. And he told her how much God loved her and that she was Daddy’s princess; he also said that Jesus loved her and was going to use her to write a book that would help other hurting women. And with a lot of tears, once again, she tucked away in her heart writing a book. But as a mother, I ponder these things in my heart; over the years, I watched my daughter and son go through so much pain in their lives. I tried so hard as a single mother to take away their pain. I was not able to, no matter how hard I tried, but I knew that my God could without fail.

Many years later, my daughter was searching for some important papers that she needed, and she came across this picture she had drawn for the cover of her book. To her surprise, what she had tucked away many years ago, was now reappearing; it’s funny how God will bring you back to the purpose He has for you. So, when my daughter saw this, she said to me, Mom, God is telling me now is the time to write the book because there are many people who are hurting.

And with much prayer and tears, my daughter began to write her life story, Love Letters from Daddy. As I read my daughter’s book with many memories and tears, I realized it wasn’t just for a certain group of people; it was for women, men, young, and old. It was for the hurting, broken, rejected, damaged, and the list goes on. A journey of healing through her eyes on a road called life. Matthew 19:26 (KJV) says, But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

    A Tribute

    to My Mother

My mother is a strong, spiritual, faith-based woman. She is a strong person, even sometimes she doesn’t know it. She is a very lovable and nurturing person to many people she comes across. When my mother is faced with many obstacles, she doesn’t give up; she goes to the Word of God for guidance and wisdom; she goes into her prayer closet and talks to her Heavenly Father God. My mother’s trust in her God gives her strength and courage to go on. She waits patiently with confidence that her God will work it out. And this is what my mother has always done since I was born; that is why my faith in God gets me through my obstacles and trials of life. That’s why I am writing a tribute to my wonderful mother.

I love you, Mommy, very much. No words can ever really express how much you mean to me; I will forever be indebted to you, my prayer partner, my friend, and my hero. God has seen your tears and your struggles; even when people ridicule, laugh, look down on you, and misjudge you, He knows what you had to endure. You are a true persevere and prayer warrior, and I want to thank you for not giving up or giving in. I thank God for handpicking you to be my mom. Thanks for not giving up on me, even though I know I gave you a run for your money, LOL. But, on a serious note, thanks Mom for everything, but especially for being a woman of God and sharing God with us. Love you always!

    Introduction

Where do I begin? I guess I will start off by introducing myself. My name is Tonya Owens; I am from the Steel City, as some people may call it, or better yet, the Steeler’s nation. I am not much of a sports fan, but I do like basketball and the Olympic games. I remember in my elementary days of school, I used to be on a basketball team; I wasn’t a bad player, but I wasn’t the greatest player either. I really believe the only reason they picked me was that I was taller than most of my peers. I could remember some of my peers back then would call me names that were very hurtful. They would call me Too Tall Jones, Tree, or other names that weren’t pleasant. I could remember feeling really bad about myself; the constant bullying as a child left me scared and very alone. No child should ever have to experience that pain or rejection.

But that was just the beginning of my journey of pain; I went through a lot of heartaches and pain. I thought
