About this ebook
Johnathon Fowler was shocked to have a child, his niece, dropped into his lap. The idea of raising the baby made panic surge through him. He knew he needed help and thankfully found it in Jade. She was a godsend to him. What he didn't expect were the feelings that grew between them, and he didn't quite know what to do about them.
Jade Carson came into his life for a reason. She took over the care of the baby like a pro because that was her profession, and she wasn't about to lose this chance because of her attraction to Johnathon. She worked hard to pull herself out of poverty, and she didn't want to risk her job because of her feelings for him.
It was only when a person from his past appeared that they were unable to hold back their feelings for each other.

Johnathon looked at the applications spread out on his desk in front of him. He’d read one and either put it back in the original pile or set it aside to discard.
Have you decided on one?
Michael, his co-worker at the law firm, asked from Johnathon’s office doorway.
Johnathon looked up.
I’ve narrowed it down to two.
Michael walked to the desk, placed his hands on the top and leaned over.
Which ones?
Johnathon pointed at two resumes.
What do they look like?
Johnathon snorted.
I don’t give a shit what they look like. I just need a nanny for my niece.
Yeah, but it would be nice if she was attractive.
Not really. In fact, I prefer she not be. I hate the thought of having a woman live with me. The last thing I need is one that tried to come on to me.
So, if she’s not attractive, she won’t try?
She’s less likely to try because I think they fear rejection more.
Michael snorted.
Johnathon grinned and continued.
Think about it, does a beautiful woman get rejected?
Michael thought about it for a moment.
Not often. Yeah, I can see your point.
Johnathon sat down and went over the applications one more time.
You look beat,
Michael commented.
Johnathon rubbed the back of his neck and sighed.
Taking care of a seven-month-old baby was never something I dreamed I’d ever do. Plus, I think she misses her parents.
It’s going to be tough on the both of you for a while.
Johnathon picked up one sheet that had grabbed his attention. Jade Carson. The agency thought highly of her. The thing that worried him was she was so young. Wouldn’t she want to be out experiencing life instead of stuck with a baby?
Jade? She’s the one?
Yeah, I think so. She comes with great references, both from her previous employer and the agency.
Why is she not working for the previous employer?
They decided to move to England. They wanted her to go with them, but she didn’t want to leave the US.
I don’t blame her.
Johnathon nodded.
Me either.
Johnathon reached forward and grabbed the phone. He wasn’t going to second guess himself. He needed a nanny as soon as possible.
Several minutes later he hung up, leaned back and sighed.
It’s done, or do you need to interview her?
Michael asked.
No, I passed on that. I told them before I’d trust their judgment. It helps that Mrs. Thurston will be at the condo during the day. She said she’d keep an eye on everything until we know the nanny better.
I bet your housekeeper is glad to get a nanny also.
Absolutely. She’s been great taking Haley during the day so I can work, but she’s older. She says she doesn’t have the energy needed to take care of a young child.
So, when is the girl coming?
Tonight.
Wow, that quick?
Michael asked in disbelief.
Johnathon checked his watch and stood. He shuffled some papers together and stuffed them in his briefcase.
I’m going to head home now.
Good luck, man.
Yeah, I think I’m going to need it.
Chapter Two
Johnathon bounced an angry baby that lay on his shoulder when the doorman called up. Johnathon juggled the baby at the same time, trying to talk into the speaker.
Sir, there’s a Miss Carson here.
Send her up.
A relieved breath whooshed from his lungs. He’d never been so glad to see someone in his life.
Yes, Sir.
Johnathon was holding the upset child when the elevator doors opened. His first sight of the new nanny was a tad blurry
