    About the author

    INTRODUCTION

The book is generated from divine inspiration to share stories and experiences during trying periods or situations which seem to shift the very foundation of the stricken. These can be referred to as stormy windy periods of life that rock you fiercely and seem to blow away the good experiences from sight. These are periods in life when the thunders of problem, difficulty, dilemma, troubles, dispute, mess etc. strike through your life and make you vulnerable. The effect is such that you are left in a distressed, disappointed, discouraged, dangerous position and in deep trouble. It might mean nothing to others, but it is strong enough to capsize your lifeboat.

It is the aim of the author to help the reader identify what not to do when you do not know what to do when the thunder strikes. It facilitates an opportunity to relate with similar situations described in this book and come to terms with the reality that there is hope, and you are not alone in such situations. It also intimates the reader with the fact that God has promises for all and He will do what He said He will do (I Thessalonians 5:24). It also aims to reveal to anyone feeling low, deprived, bereaved, downcast, rejected, dejected, or struck with circumstances that your dreams may not necessarily be cancelled. You should know for sure that there is hope because all things are possible when you believe and trust in the Lord (Matthew 19:26; Luke 1:39; Mark 9:23; Mark 10:27). The illustrations in this book are real occurrences, but the names are fictional.

The inspiration and passion for this book was born from the desire to help remind counsellors that people struck with thunder have their own individual perspectives as against the perspectives of the counsellors and empathisers. This book might equally help counsellors appreciate that when thunder strikes, it does not take the same pattern in all cases hence, there can be no room for comparisons. It is also meant to be an eye-opener to help understand that empathy is much more relevant than sympathy when supporting anyone struck. In addition, the idea arose from the passion to help the affected understand that the empathisers and counsellors are only trying to help you and not offend you. It helps to understand that every empathiser means no harm or evil when they say things at the time of an incidence. It also aims to assist you to appreciate that empathisers will only relate within the scope of their knowledge and understanding in any given situation. It is safe to know that God is right there in the furnace to deliver you if you call on His name (Daniel 3; Proverbs 2:8).

There are many factors that might be responsible for unbelievable situations or disasters, therefore, there is no room for judgemental attitude and blame game of any sort. It is pertinent to mention here that the principles in the book can be utilised in any area of life and by anyone.

There are many things that can strike people at different times and in different ways. When thunder strikes, it imparts and impacts on different things, and this might differ from person to person. Statistically, it is believed that about 3 million lightening can occur in a day, and this can result in death and injuries. Therefore, lots and lots of people are struck daily; some die, some are
