I was watching for a bus to pick us up for Phnom Penh. We would be with Pa. I was relieved that we wouldn’t be captured by the Viet Cong after all.

When the bus leaves, I look at my home one last time. I remember how we used to come out and sit on the balcony and enjoy warm evening breezes together. I would chase fireflies hovering near the houseplants.
