About this ebook

Lord, You Know . . . Three-Word Prayers of Adoration, Supplication, and Affirmation is a multi-sensory prayer devotional. Readers are invited to participate in the daily exercise of reciting a three-word prayer, reading the accompanying devotion, completing a creative reflection activity, and listening to an inspirational song that underscores the prayer’s theme.
Although Shéree Jones hopes to engage the total person in the act of prayer, her main goal is to simplify and demystify prayer. By encapsulating a prayer request into just 3-words, she demonstrates the power of simplicity in urgent prayer. The prayers are relevant for everyone–from the novice believer to the seasoned saint. The simple yet profound language of the 3-word prayers encourages readers to establish a more intimate relationship with God.
The book’s three sections organize its content as prayers of adoration, supplication, and affirmation. The prayers in each help the reader show love for God, make petitions known to God, and affirm what we already have experienced with God.
Lord, You Know . . . gets straight to the heart of the matter, making it easy to read but hard to put down.

    About the Author

    BOOK DEDICATION

    The Late Deaconess Alice Goodman

    Great-Grandma,

I dedicate this book to you. You covered your family in prayer and those vintage prayers continue to manifest blessings in the lives of your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and generations to come.

Thank you, Great-Grandma, for teaching me how to pray.

    Love,

    Shéree

    FOREWORD

In the words of Alice Walker, Sheree Jones went in search of the garden of her great grandmother Alice. She hand-picked a bushel of the richest and ripest vintage prayers which she offers to her readers.

Thank you Sheree Jones for taking the time to share a simple approach to prayer with us. Too often, people of faith mistakenly believe that their prayer life has to be a long dissertation. You adequately indicated that God is not seeking a monologue with His beloved; God is interested in a dialogue. Unfortunately, we’ve been socialized to believe that prayer is an arduous task, but you’ve reminded us that we can experience a conscious contact with God through our prayer life. In essence, the title of your book, Lord You Know, is symbolic of a Snapchat with God.

Lord You Know, simple yet powerful words. Words that many of us have uttered time and time again. We speak those words when life gets tough and the road gets rough, and out of gratitude for the blessings God heaps upon us. Praying Lord You Know affirms our total dependence on the God of the bible who knows us, sees, and hears us.

One of my favorite devotionals is Heal My Brokenness. The three suggested ingredients crying, praying, and trusting God are so on point. Then you follow that up with the cooking instructions: combine ingredients, let God cook and your healing is on the way. Bon Appetit!

In the devotional, Sheree mentioned that prayer can be a multi-sensory experience. As a result of approaching prayer in a rudimentary manner, it’s easy to feel as if your prayer life is in a rut, but prayer does not have to be boring. It does not have to be boring because the author encourages the reader to consider engaging all five senses when you pray. Imagine with me that on any given day your prayer life can be embellished by observing the flicker of a candle flame, the next day you can choose to go outside to walk and pray while gazing at the cosmos, and on another day while doing your favorite hobby you can simultaneously engage in silent prayer. Talk about time management.

If your spirit has been bereft and you’re seeking a spiritual awakening, this devotional is just what you need to recover from the bugaboos of a dull prayer life. Before long, you
