    About the Author

    Foreword

When David embarked on a one-hundred-and-eighty-day prayer and fasting journey, I knew he was about to give birth to something. The Bible says in Matthew 7:7–8:

Matthew 7:7–8 (NKJV), Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

This treasure came out of that spiritual adventure. Yes and Amen is a revelation of why we should pray, how to pray, and what to do after we have prayed and are waiting for the manifestation of our answers.

The Bible is a book of life that contains all scriptural secrets and mysteries of successful living. They are secrets because one’s eyes have to be enlightened to discover the virtues it contains. They are mysteries because God’s way is not our way. Any revelation from the Word of God can answer every question in someone’s life and turn him to a star. We live in a world where there are many questions and fewer answers.

Many Christians don’t pray. Many people are praying, but the results are not justifying their efforts, and this has led them to frustration and wondering if God answers prayer like in the days of the Bible. God is faithful to His Word and His name. He still answers prayers according to His Word in Psalm 65:1–2.

Psalm 65:1–2 (NKJV), Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; And to You the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, To You all flesh will come.

If you are reading this book, I believe you have found something of an immeasurable value. Read this book, apply the revelation therein, and you will find the answers you have been looking for.

May God answer all your prayers with manifestation of undeniable proof.

    —Isaac Segun-Abugan

Presiding Pastor, Dominion Life Christian Center

    Introduction

This book is influenced by God’s intervention on a wrong belief about prayer that I religiously held on to for so many years based on limited revelation of God’s Word. I struggled with prayer for a long time and experienced many instances where I thought at the time that God was not answering my prayers. At some point, I became afraid to pray so I would not be disappointed if nothing happened. I would also wonder what could happen if I prayed and kept oscillating between two opinions, whether to pray or not. I frequently engaged in wishful thinking and hoped God would respond to my unspoken desires notwithstanding. This launched me into roller-coaster expeditions in an almost endless loop. I felt lonely occasionally but remained hopeful amidst the uncertainty while I encouraged myself with the Word of God to increase my understanding and change the circumstances.

I knew enough to believe that God is too powerful to fail, but I could not understand why He was not answering my prayers. Although this was how I felt at the time, I later discovered that it was not that God was not answering some of my prayers. He was, in fact, answering them, but I was not seeing the manifestations and assumed He never answered them. I have experienced the hand of God many times, but the lack of manifestations to some key prayers caused doubts to creep in my mind occasionally.

I kept researching God’s Word to see what I was missing or doing wrong. My belief in God’s Word kept me going back to the Scriptures to search for answers, and I would pray for guidance so that I could get out of the predicaments I was in as quickly as possible. As I kept searching, God began to unravel the mystery that held me bound for many years. My mind was being renewed over time, a little at a time, and I began to rewrite all the wrong perceptions I had of how God answered prayers based on the new light God was showing me. My prayer life has since improved tremendously after I embraced the realities I will be sharing in this book. I would not claim to have mastered the art completely, and I consider myself a continuous learner, eager to receive more revelations from God as I continue to seek Him in this regard. I am overwhelmed and flabbergasted about the revelations God poured out as I started writing this book. It is very humbling that I would often get up from my seat and do praise sessions before continuing.

I am conscious that some people may find it difficult to accept the reality of the revelation on this topic of discussion, and my prayer is that God will open their eyes and help their understanding as He did to me. I remember clearly in 2020 when God schooled me and opened my eyes to some of these realities, following a three-year journey in desperation. I exclaimed to God that I would proclaim the revelation and help many people by sharing it. I remember clearly God telling me it was okay to proclaim it, but He would only allow those He chose to catch the revelation. They will have to seek Him diligently with their heart in humility before He can open their eyes.

This made sense because I have heard a lot of messages preached about the power of the mind, the law of seedtime and harvest, maintaining a heart of gratitude, not dwelling on bad experiences, not harboring or wasting pain, and so on, but the full reality of why we must guide our hearts with all diligence never fully dawned on me until the 2020 experience that I will share later in chapter six. The story of Joseph came alive as if I was reading it for the first time because of the encounter. I understood what God told me, as it resonated with me, considering that the message had been under my nose all the while and I had heard it many times but never fully comprehended it.

Mark 4:11–12 (NKJV), And He said to them, ‘To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so that seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.

God gives us access to divine secrets based on our true desire for them and the current level of our understanding of His principles. There are no vaults in heaven where God hides secrets; rather, He lays them bare before us and waits for us to diligently search for revelation and then responds accordingly. He demands that we seek Him diligently, despite telling us that He dwells in our hearts. A very simple request, yet profound it is, to look within our hearts more rather than focusing all attention on external forces. God knows when we take the simple action to look within us, we will find answers to many complex issues that we encounter.

This book is divided into three sections. Section one focuses on how God is erroneously perceived as the bottleneck to prayers; how He responds to petitions; who we are in God’s eyes and what God really wants for us; the tricks of the devil and his ultimate goals to steal, kill, and destroy; the nature of God; and the role of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in helping us navigate life situations. Section two dives deeper into reviewing factors that may be responsible for immediate, non-immediate, and pending manifestations to prayer. Section three focuses on courses of action to get us back on track on how God wants us to pray.

    Prologue

    Late School Fees

Son: Hello, Daddy, why have you not paid my school fees like you said you would? I was kicked out of school today and cannot go back until the fees are paid. You always told me you loved me, and I do not understand why you would let the school ridicule me today when they kicked me out in front of all my friends, who kept laughing at my ordeal. Please do something quick, Daddy.

Dad: Son…Son…can you hear me? I mailed your school fees last month, and the post office has been waiting for you to pick them up…can you hear me?

The son was not paying attention and did not hear anything the dad said.

    Cold Breakfast

Dad: Hello, Daughter. By the time you wake up and see this note, I will already be at my desk in the office because I have to leave very early this morning. Your food is in the fridge, and you will only need to microwave it. As always, you know you can ask me for anything you need anytime. All you have to do is call my direct line. See you later…I love you. Your caring dad.

The daughter did not see her dad’s note when she woke up. After searching for her dad for hours, she went back to her room and found the note by her lampstand. She was relieved and dashed to the kitchen to get her food. The food was too cold to eat, so she picked up the phone and called her dad’s private line at work.

Daughter: Daddy, she said. I am very hungry, and the food you made for me is cold. Can you come home and warm it up for me as soon as you can? You always mentioned that I could always call you anytime and ask for anything I wanted. I love you too, Dad.

    Wealthy Philanthropist Dad

Son: Hello, Dad. You are the best dad ever, and I am so proud to be your son. Everyone around me keeps telling me how privileged I am to have a dad like you. I often tell them that I am one of many children that my dad adopted and all of us enjoy the same privileges as his only son who live with him overseas. I add that you are a highly principled and wealthy philanthropist who adopts children at every opportunity you get, and I always extend your invitation and business card to them.

Dad: Good job, my son. Keep up the good work, and continue to love others the same way I love you. You are doing a fantastic job, no doubt. Some people you talked to reached out to me last week and expressed their willingness to join the family.

Son: Thanks, Dad. You made it easy for me since all I had to do was follow the guidelines you gave me. By the way, I am sure you must have sent the winter coat I requested last week, but somehow it has not been delivered to me. I will stop by the post office tomorrow to find out what may have happened to the mail. I will text you again tomorrow morning.

He was told at the post office that his neighbor had signed for the package on his behalf a few days earlier. His neighbor was known to be notorious, so he obtained a court order on his way over. He recovered his coat and texted his dad with great excitement.

Son: I got my coat back, Dad! It is very beautiful and strong enough to withstand the winter cold. Thank you for the advice you gave me in the morning to get a court order from the courthouse before approaching my notorious neighbor and for the hint on how to approach the judge. Talk to you later, Dad. I love you!

    Open Secret

Can something be in the open and yet be a secret? Feels like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? Yet, it is the supernatural wisdom of God. God has placed every answer to every puzzle right before our eyes and right on our fingertips, yet He requires us to search them out. God knows that the value of anything lies in recognizing the quality that influences the resources we invest. A diamond in its raw state looks like a dirty rock; it is only those who have been trained or enlightened about its qualities that can recognize it in its raw state.

The book Acres of Diamonds: Discovering God’s Best Right Where You Are by Pastor Jentezen Franklin contains a true life story of a man named Ali Hafed, who went in search of diamonds, leaving his family and assets behind. After an unsuccessful pursuit, the shame of failure led him to commit suicide. Another man purchased his acres of land and noticed stones all over the land. He was fascinated by a big stone and kept it in his living room. He received a visitor one day, a priest, who opened his eyes to what the stone was, and this man became extremely wealthy just like that. The irony is that Ali Hafed had left all that fortune behind in search of the very thing that was right under his nose. He probably came across many placer deposits or kimberlite host rocks and never recognized the very item he was searching for. If he could not recognize the gemstones on his land, the chances that he would recognize diamonds anywhere else were very slim. He had a different perception of what he was searching for and did not recognize diamond in its raw state.

Searching is crucial but knowing what we are searching for is equally crucial. If Ali Hafed had done good research on diamonds, he might have realized that he had been living on the famous diamond mine of Golconda all the while. My pastor often says that if we do
