Anomalous Shepherd

For as long as I can remember, I’ve focused on channelling my emotions inwardly towards talents, imagination and then later pushing creativity into meaningful experiences and powerful results. I firmly believe in working hard for the right reasons, working together when you can and having fun along the way if possible. But mostly, I just prefer creation over destruction and to keep oneself away from idleness and boredom does help. This has resulted in some short stories :)

He’d Drink Every Night - Anomalous Shepherd

    Chapter 1 - True Contact

You know, says Mary Anne, leaning one arm against the smooth, glossy top of the bar counter. You’ve been coming in here for weeks now, and I still don’t know your name.

In her mind, she just refers to him as The Regular, complete with the mental capitalization. The man is unassuming to look at; short, salt and pepper hair, just a bit of stubble on his chin, the side of his cheeks, and a clean looking, plain colored tee shirt. No scars or birthmarks, no glasses. No eccentric clothing or stand out hair.

But he’s the kind of man who catches your attention and holds it anyway. Or maybe that's just because Mary Anne isn’t used to so many people coming by more than once. She works at a small bar just off of Interstate Seventy Five, right across from a skeevy little Motel Eight; the sort where you pay cash at the counter, no IDs needed.

She gets a lot of truckers that pass through. Worn looking father’s seeking a break from their kids or their wife during vacation traveling. Newly turned twenty one year old’s with their friends, stopping by during their great coast
