Chapter 1 - Locked In

Stop pacing already, snaps Tilly. I can’t take watching you do that anymore! Back and forth, back and forth! The door isn’t going to magically open, and the walls aren’t magically going to sprout windows. Just sit down already.

Danny counters, I’m not going to just sit down. It’s cold, and I’m hungry, and I want out of here!

We both want out of here, Tilly tells him. It’s not like this is my idea of a good time either. But your pacing isn’t going to do anything outside of driving me completely up the wall. So do us both a favor, and sit down already.

No! Danny spins around. He’s tall and skinny, with messy curly red hair and more freckles than you find sesame seeds on an overloaded bun. They’re both wearing their uniforms, which are simple black long sleeved button down and black slacks, with their name tag pinned to one side and a few pens for taking menus in the pocket on the other.

He’s two years younger than Tilly is. This is his first job, and he’s been doing a pretty good job at it.
