I wrote this book at fifty young years of age.

During the last thirty-five or so years, I have enjoyed considerable business success time and time again. I have over-achieved compared to most of my peers from school and college. I over-achieved what level my Parents reached professionally and in their marriage. I was lucky enough to be in two long-term relationships with loving, caring partners.
I have had offers from investors to back me. I have flown first class to exotic destinations around the world. I have stayed in the finest hotels. I have reinvented myself often.

And yet, during the good times, there was always something missing. A gap. An emptiness.

I grew up convinced that if I lived the good life described above, surely that would mean I have arrived at the destination of "happiness."

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 led to the collapse of my income and the break-up of a ten-year relationship. Until then, I had been living a relatively good life by most people's standards.

Where had I gone wrong? Why was I repeating the same patterns leading to disaster? Was I chasing someone else's dreams? What did I really want?

Sometimes life throws a brick through your "window" and it causes you to stop. COVID and my relationship ending were my brick.

I realised - finally - that no-one is coming to rescue me. I had wasted years waiting for a lifeguard - a Mentor or some kind of strong role-model - to come and put me on the correct path so I could live "happily ever after."

I had to participate in my own rescue. This is the story of my rather simple journey. It helped me. It might possibly help you too.
