After suffering a traumatic head injury, recovery became the focal point of his life. A healing process of body, mind, and spirit highlighted aspects of himself to work with and develop, creating the version of himself imagined. Writing has always been something enjoyed, but until gratitude journaling was introduced through a counsellor to help rewire the brain, it was not an important part of his life. Now, poetic ideologies envelop his world and the spoken word is impassioned. Hoping to ignite inspiration in others, he morphs perceptions and observations within fascinating wordplay to weave mental puzzles for all to unfold.

An open mind can come to see perceivance shift in our realities. In whichever way this shift in sight manifests, have faith for this is the way it was meant to be.

This is my gift to my brethren, all sisters and brothers. For those who read this I wish to water seeds, or plant them, to help in the culmination of this beautiful garden of ours. Our shared experience here on earth only betters with the intention to grow one’s-self.

I highly encourage keeping a journal available while you’re reading (or while living all of life really!) to take down questions, words to dictionize, concepts to explore, or poetic inspirations.

    Ways to change it all.

Acceleration is compiled of journal entries and poetics over 4 years of my life after a significant head injury that left me in an 18 day coma.

These journals were my way of therapy starting soon after a counsellor had recommended gratitude entries to rewire the brain. I then dove more into the quote of The human mind is like a computer in the fact that it’s magnificent, but only as great as the information fed into it. - Unknown

Propelling forward, Acceleration reflects myself during a healing process of body, mind, and soul. With shadows illuminated and an open, receptive awareness, I pushed forth throughout this energetic story of my recovery. I wish to raise questions and introspections, and at the very least, entertain!

Most of these entries averaged from 30 - 90 min to complete, as I took my time to try and place words and syllables in a way to leave a sweet taste when spoken, along with deepening meanings and emotional influences. The rhythm and messages do not land when reading through this all too fast, an exhaustion for myself. I encourage an easy pace while reading to receive my feelings, and to allow concepts and wordplay to fully integrate within yourself. To slow down and be aware of breathing rhythmically.   image1new.jpg

Steady flow from inhale to exhale, Acceleration accompanies you through a meditative state.

An awakened perspective invites you all to come along.

    Here we go!

The earth has music for those who listen, so listen please.

Let the symphonic melodies orchestrate at the wave of your wand.

A world seemingly forgotten sits lost in the

    middle of - compressed intestines.

    Mind, my comparison.

Catching a glimpse of creation, not knowing

from which way it came in to lay

    Beautifully in front of you.

Intending for the best, though, it might not seem so in the moment but

After the rest, it’ll make sense.

A perfected process needs worry not, bringing it to the

table carries nothing but distraught - an uneasy feeling

of the future distracting a split second of time,

    Which is now!

Listening in to vibrations of emotions felt, behind - thoughts

More powerful than thought to be.

    An inception, endless in continuity

My passion for poetry came to me while playing music at hostels and bars across Southeast Asia with my brother Kento. After our travels I went back to Cambodia for a fire spinning festival on the island - Koh Rong, and stayed volunteering at an art studio for a couple months thereafter.

In a village near Sihanoukville, I witnessed a gentleman performing spoken word. A few days later I had seen some interesting journals for sale in a hostel with the symbol of Om on a leather-esque cover and some thick, natural paper within. Inspired to start with poetry, I purchased the book and began writing pieces.

In this first section I have transcribed from that journal which I put together after a while of journalling, poetically. I would transfer the ones that had struck a feeling within myself to share at open mics.

Among the first half of Acceleration are all the poems from that journal. After dates become more frequent and specific, the book is compiled from one of my latest journals, showing my insights and ways of viewing life during the most recent stage of this healing period. These compilations come from four different journals I had taken with me from Cambodia to Australia, through Canada, down into The United States, and Mexico before Covid was closing borders and I made my way back up to my hometown, in the heart of the continent.

The content of Acceleration is a glimpse into my therapy sessions within myself. The repetition of words and concepts at certain moments portrays phrases and wordplay that had resonated within my being. A repetition to affirm and integrate in different contexts. image1new.jpg

I would encourage through my poetics to breathe and slow the mind, to tune in with articulations and subtle meanings within the wordplay.

Of course this is your experience and choice, but concepts and healing may not be absorbed if reading with a destination and a hurry of mind.

Take your time and breathe, image1new.jpg as there is nowhere to beat yourself to. Indulge in the journey of life as I explore darkness and bring it to light, discovering true gratitude and opening to love.

    This is an open invitation,

    Thank you for your presence.

These formed thoughts are so inviting, it excites me

    Another leap of faith.

This game is mesmerizing as it coincides with my current mind state.

I’m starting to recognize how it’s shifting size, to

match my heart’s race from the baseline.

How it’s taking disguise in front my eye’s gaze, doesn’t make sense

    ..Momentarily, I guess.

Awaiting the seconds I’ll contribute my organized mess in a

    perfectionist’s perception.

Randomly selected from the proceeding guest list, I’ve been accepted.

Time to prove what you can do..

    August 2018

I think to start and picture a time, hazy as the memories are, I was a good kid. Always did what I was told and tried to shatter expectations with a smile on my face. Of course there were tough times, but none of them seemed to take much of mine. Minding my own I would move on.

At school I was the class clown (with a little bit of class) voluntarily,

always taking opportunities to get a laugh out of the teacher and my peers. All eyes on me please, escape your situations! In this moment all is well it’s true, loved by most, I would try to win them over. Popularity was kind of the goal, getting closer and closer I played the role and kept my composure.

Approaching high school my Dad went away for some time. I was doing really well in hockey and how I wish he could have seen. Luckily he was released early on good behaviour, being able to continue his support and be vocally proud of me. Perfection was the goal, no matter the circumstance, it wasn’t as good as it could be. My mom was always one to criticize, constructively, but never without smiling first! Now I look
