#1
There are people who are magnets. They attract people simply by their presence. They don’t have anything you don’t have, except for maybe more. So what’s the secret. That’s what this book is about.
#2
Everyone wants to be liked. And it’s not just about having communications skills, social skills, or sex appeal. It’s about having that quintessential quality that makes people like you and want to be part of your world.
#3
The FUD factor is the number-one people repellent. It’s difficult to eliminate it, and most motivational speakers and feel-good gurus have failed to do so.
Insights from Chapter 2
#1
A true friend is someone you can trust, someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway. Some people have a hard time understanding the importance of same-sex friends or friends who are not sexual.
#2
platonic relationships are between a man and a woman who do not find each other sexually attractive. Men and women can have a platonic relationship, and it is defined as a transparent and sadistic ruse by which attractive and otherwise eligible females destroy the ego and spirit of a male acquaintance who shows romantic interest.
#3
Love between a man and a woman is so mysterious, miraculous, and beautiful that it defies simple definition. It is the most desired state of all, and yet we don’t have control over it.
#4
The emotions between men are suppressed. Some men even have trouble coughing up the words my friend. They feel that if they express their feelings, it will violate their validity.
#5
Women are better at friendship than men, according to many studies. They are more sensitive to each other’s unspoken needs, they genuinely like their female friends better than anyone else, and they talk about their friendships more openly than the less gentle sex.
