The Inner Voice - Budgie Chambers

    Appointment

    The hospital beckons me today

To see what the Consultant has to say.

Will the news be good so I can carry on,

Or bad and I have to face it till it’s gone?

Time will tell: it’s drawing near.

Don’t really want to go, maybe it’s fear!

But I’m very strong, and I can cope

With whatever they tell me, I’m full of hope.

Am on my way, back in a bit.

    Hospital close, gotta face it.

Nurse she calls me to go in

To the doctor who is waiting within.

‘Give me some details. What brings you here?

A list of your medicine, let’s examine you, dear.’

He prods and pokes. It seems all good:

‘No signs of problems, must be your food.’

Time to go home, I’m now feeling great:

Got there on time, wasn’t late.

Given the all-clear – best ever feeling.

Always worth getting checked, could jump on the ceiling!

    Spring

    Buds peeking through the ground:

    Spring is here, crocus abound.

Daffodils will soon be on their way,

Showing their colour and beauty all day.

Swaying in the wind, to and fro,

Watching in wonderment as they blow.

The tulips won’t be far behind:

All the colours, blowing your mind.

Birds are chirping in the trees,

Picking up twigs to make nests with ease.

Soon their eggs will begin to hatch

As the birds in pairs win their favourite patch.

Now it’s time for our buzzing bee

Hovering over the flowers they see,

Birds watching where they get their pollen,

Drinking the nectar before petals start falling.

Folk on the streets with a spring in their steps,

    Gardeners digging into the depths,

Prodding and poking till the weeds are out:

Well worth the preparation, there is no doubt.

Wonderful time of the year is Spring,

When all of nature is doing their thing.

Soon there will be hatchlings and scraggy birds

Trying to fly in a big new world.

    Half Term

Dear, oh dear! Half term is here,

Kids running wild far and near,

Doing wheelies in the middle of the road,

Being told to stop, tho’ won’t be told.

Watching the road with bated breath,

    Making sure no accidents or even death;

They really are silly, is all I can say,

Putting their lives at risk each day.

What’s wrong with the park where they can play?
