    Preface

In 2016, my life was a WRECK. I was wounded and broken from failed relationships, failed goals, and disappointments. I was in a place of complete hopelessness for months, then something happened. I decided I wanted to live. Not just exist but live. I started doing the work to heal and get closer to God like never before. The work was hard but worth it. Before I knew it, my wounds started making sense, and I conjured a willingness to Win as God had already ordained me to. The same ordination of victory he gave me he has given all of us. I wrote this book to help others accept the call of Victory that God has placed on their lives.

    Part One: The Losing Game

    Chapter One

    Learning from Loss

Everyone has experienced some type of loss in their life, whether it was a loss of a job, spouse, a loved one, a relationship, or even an opportunity. And that experience was more than likely uncomfortable. Let me start by breaking down what loss is. Webster’s dictionary defines loss as the fact or process of losing something or someone. However, there is something that I like about this definition. I know what you’re thinking; what can I appreciate about anything dealing with loss? The definition mentions the word process, which tells me that the loss of something or someone is the beginning of the cycle, not the end. A process is something that involves time, and if you have breath in your body, that means you have time for things to change.

Have you lost anything recently? Are you in a place where accepting this loss seems too hurtful to endure? Well, I’m here to tell you that I’ve been there. It wasn’t too long ago that I experienced a small loss, but that loss was severe because I stayed in the stage of not accepting. As I said before, loss is a process involving different stages and levels, and staying in that unacceptance stage, I found myself stagnant in the hurt and pain of the loss. I had to understand that the situation was over, and I needed to move forward, but guess what? I couldn’t do it alone. You probably feel you can’t do it alone either, but the good news is that we don’t have to. As children of God, we never have to do anything alone. God gives us a stand-by friend that provides us with all the help we need to handle anything, including loss. That friend is the Holy Spirit.

In John 14:26, Jesus says, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. In stages of loss, you lose hope, or you can lose all sense of focus and direction, but if you allow Him, the Holy Spirit will help you through this very difficult time. He will even comfort you throughout the entire process. With Him, you are never alone. Experiencing loss puts us in a very vulnerable state, and it becomes hard to see Jesus or that good will never come out of the bad. However, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can press into God’s presence. The way to press into God’s presence is through prayer and praise.

The Holy Spirit will enable you to do that even when you feel like you can’t. Romans 8:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. He helps us when we feel hopeless, scared, hurt, discouraged, and tired. To get through any loss, you will need help from the Helper. But guess what? Before God sent the Holy Spirit into the Earth, Jesus had to first suffer on the cross. After Jesus suffered and died, it was the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Him from the grave. Think about that! That same dead-raising power is inside of you.

But before you can move forward with the help of the Holy Spirit, you must first accept the loss. And when I say accept the loss, I don’t mean it in the sense of just taking it as the final result but accepting the fact that what was-is no longer. And maybe this will help,

Even though what you had is no longer there, what is no longer there will not affect what is to come.  RegJon K. Lee

Still not ready to accept? Is it still too hard? Cool, let’s take it slow. Let’s look at some reasons why it’s hard to accept a loss.

One of the main reasons someone may have a hard time accepting and moving on from a loss is because of the fear of the unknown. Not knowing what’s next, who's next, or what opportunity is next makes you scared to leave your comfort zone. Loss is a place in the wilderness. In the bible, after the Israelites were free from Egypt, they spent years in the wilderness. While in the wilderness, God fed them bread and manna. As I researched the taste of manna, it is said it's not that flavorful. Well, the purpose of the manna wasn’t to taste good but to sustain the Israelites enough to make it through their journey. So even though it was for their good, having to eat that manna didn’t feel good to them. They actually felt like they were losing out by having to do this, and they often reminisced about the garlic and onions they had to eat in Egypt. *insert scripture* Garlic and onions aren’t good foods, but it satisfied their taste buds. So, without it, now they felt like they were lacking.

This sort of thing happens with a lot of us. God closes the door on something, and because we are lacking in some areas of our lives, we feel a total loss. God has promised that he has a promise-land experience waiting for every one of us, but we don’t like to go through that uncomfortable stage of lacking in what pleases our flesh. God
